What does traditional education mean?

Traditional education is opposite to "modern education". Especially the educational theory and teaching mode of Herbart and his school. Its greatest influence on later generations is to divide the teaching process into four successive stages: clarity, association, system and method. Ryan, a descendant of this school, divided the original first stage into two stages and developed it into five stages: preparation, prompt, association, generalization and application. This teaching mode is helpful for teachers to impart systematic knowledge and improve classroom teaching effect. It spread widely in the second half of the19th century and had a great influence on Europe and America.
