Are Zuo Zhuan and Chunqiu the same book?
The full name of Zuozhuan is Chunqiu Zuozhuan, which is one of the thirteen Confucian classics. Zuo Zhuan is not only a historical masterpiece of ancient Han nationality, but also a literary masterpiece. Zuo Zhuan is China's first detailed chronicle work. According to legend, it was compiled by Zuo Qiuming, a historian of the State of Lu at the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, according to the History of the State of Lu. The narrative scope began in the year of Lu Yin (722 BC) and ended in the twenty-seventh year of Lu Aigong (468 BC), which mainly recorded the important events and figures in politics, economy, military affairs, diplomacy and culture of various countries in the early period of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.
Spring and Autumn Period: Spring and Autumn Period, also known as Lin Jing or Lin Shi, is one of the six Confucian classics in ancient China. China's First Collection of National Historical Records and History. As a chronicle of Lu, it was revised by Confucius. Chunqiu became a classic later than the four books of poetry, calligraphy, ceremony and music. Mr. Li Xueqin emphasized: "We don't mean that Chunqiu must have entered the classics before The Book of Songs, Li and Yue, but it was not as late as many people said. Because they think that the Book of Changes and Spring and Autumn Annals entered the' classics' because Confucius wrote the Book of Changes in his later years, and later the Book of Changes and Spring and Autumn Annals became classics.
The language used to take notes in the ancient books of Chunqiu is extremely concise, but almost every sentence implies the meaning of praise and criticism, which is called "Chunqiu brushwork" and "subtle meaning" by later generations.
Because the chronicle of Spring and Autumn Annals was too brief, many books that supplemented, explained and expounded the history recorded in Spring and Autumn Annals appeared later, which were called "Biographies". Among them, Zuo Zhuan, Yang Gongzhuan and Gu Liangzhuan are called the three biographies of the Spring and Autumn Period, which were very famous in the pre-Qin period.
