Types and characteristics of resin handicrafts

Resin is a kind of chemical substance with phenolic structure, and there are many kinds. It is widely used in our light industry and heavy industry, and is often seen in our daily life, such as plastics, plexiglass, coatings,

Resin can be used as additive binder for various advanced refractories, grinding wheels, cutting pieces and so on.

The resins mainly include general resin, advanced coating resin, artificial marble resin, crystal handicraft resin, SMC, DMC resin, winding resin, corrosion-resistant resin, flexible resin, color paste resin, food-grade resin and other products.

Classification of resins

There are many ways to classify resins, which can be divided into natural resins and synthetic resins according to their sources, and can also be classified according to synthetic reaction and main chain composition.

1, classified by resin synthesis reaction.

According to this method, resins can be divided into addition polymers and condensation polymers.

Addition polymer refers to the polymer prepared by addition polymerization, and the chemical formula of its chain structure is the same as the molecular formula of monomer, such as polyethylene, polystyrene, polytetrafluoroethylene, etc.

Polycondensate refers to the polymer formed by polycondensation, and the chemical formula of its structural unit is different from the molecular formula of monomer, such as phenolic resin, polyester resin, polyamide resin and so on.

2, according to the resin molecular backbone composition classification

According to this method, resins can be divided into carbon chain polymers, heterochain polymers and elemental organic polymers.

Carbon chain polymers refer to polymers whose main chains are all composed of carbon atoms, such as polyethylene and polystyrene.

Heterochain polymer refers to the polymer whose main chain consists of atoms of two or more elements such as carbon and oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur, such as polyoxymethylene, polyamide, polysulfone and polyether.

Vegetarian organic polymer means that the main chain does not necessarily contain carbon atoms, and it is mainly composed of atoms of silicon, oxygen, aluminum, titanium, boron, sulfur, phosphorus and other elements, such as siloxane.
