Essays on Spring Festival couplets English
"Spring Festival couplets", also known as a pair of phrases opposite to "couplets", is a special literary form in China. Spring Festival couplets are composed of two pairs of antithetical sentences posted on both sides of the door, and the horizontal comments on the door are usually auspicious words. The sentence posted on the right side of the door is called the upper couplet of the couplet, and the one on the left is the lower couplet. On New Year's Eve, every household will stick couplets written in red paper on the door to convey a festive and lively atmosphere. In the past, people in China usually wrote Spring Festival couplets by themselves or asked others to write them. Nowadays, people generally buy printed Spring Festival couplets in the market.
