How to use snow chains correctly when driving on icy roads.

Driving on ice and snow roads is easy to slip, so it is necessary to install anti-skid chains on tires or use anti-skid tires.

(1) Precautions when driving: ① Drive as slowly as possible to avoid slipping; ② Avoid sudden start, sudden acceleration, emergency braking or sharp turn; (3) During deceleration, engine braking and pedal braking are carried out at the same time to improve braking efficiency. Don't step on the brake pedal once, but step on it several times; (4) Reduce the speed when turning and turn the steering wheel slowly; ⑤ Avoid engine running at high speed, so as to avoid wheel slipping and steering.

(2) Precautions when installing snow chains: Improper use of snow chains will not only reduce the service life of tires, but also cause serious accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to: ① check whether there are knots and kinks at the joints of tire chains; ② Stretch the tire chain on the ground as shown in Figure 1-8, with the center of the hook facing down; (3) When the tire chain is installed on the tire, the hook tip is not allowed to hook the tire and damage the tire; (4) tire chain should be installed in the center of the tire, when necessary, can be pushed back and forth. When the tire chain is only installed on two wheels, it should be installed on the rear wheel; ⑥ The tire chain is installed on the tire, and the two hooks should be connected to each other on the inside and outside of the tire; ④ Strong rubber belt can be used to strengthen the tension of tire chain; ⑦ Check the installation of tire chains after they have been installed in the car for a period of time; ③ The length of the tire chain should be adjusted according to the wheels, and it is advisable that the two links overlap each other; Check the tire chain for wear and damage, and replace it if necessary.

Tie hemp rope or wire rope to the front towing hook, or to the towing hook on the left or right side of the rear of the car, but don't tie the towing rope to the axle or other parts, which will damage the axle or other parts. Figure 1-9 shows the method of tying the towing rope. This knot is easy to fasten and untie after use. When the car is towed, brake should be applied properly to keep the traction rope taut all the time. Otherwise, when the trailer accelerates, the towing rope may be broken or loosened, and the loosened towing rope may be crushed and entangled by the front wheel. The engine ignition key of the trailer must be placed in the "ACC" position, and it is not allowed to pull out the engine ignition key when driving, otherwise the steering wheel will be locked, causing serious accidents. For the sake of safety, do not turn the ignition key of the trailer to the "L.OCK" position.

When towing a car with a rope, the total length of the rope should not exceed 25 meters, but it should not be too short, otherwise it may hit the rear of the front car. So it is best to tie the traction rope to about 5 meters long. In addition, a square white cloth with a side longer than 30 cm can be tied in the middle of the traction rope. When the front wheels touch the ground for traction, it is recommended to use rollers. Turn the ignition key to the "ACC" position. If rollers are not used, the transmission must be in neutral position. When the rear wheel touches the ground for traction, the hand brake should be released. The towed vehicle shall not be manned, and the towed vehicle shall have a special traction device.
