What other discrimination against women in real life
(1) Unequal Employment Opportunities for Women
While statistics show that the proportion of female students in China's institutions of higher education has reached 44%, basically holding up "half the sky" on campuses, women's employment opportunities are far lower than those of male students. The first is the "half of the sky" on campus. In the job search process, gender discrimination has become a stumbling block for female graduates on their way to employment. One of the main factors of gender discrimination is pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, in addition to some traditional gender bias that makes employers refuse to let women out of the door.
(2) Unequal Retirement Age and Pension Treatment
The fact that men and women do not retire at the same age is a de facto and de jure problem of gender discrimination in China. Most of the foreign countries are practicing the same age retirement system for men and women, both in developing countries (such as India) and developed countries (such as the European Union countries)
We can't deny that in the difference of retirement age between men and women, the original intention of its formulation is to take care of women, and was once regarded as a symbol of the protection of women's rights and interests. However, we also cannot deny that with the development of society and the continuous improvement of science and technology, and with the continuous improvement of women's own cultural level and quality, this provision has undergone a qualitative change, i.e., it has been changed from the original right to guarantee to obligatory restrictions.
(3) Different pay for men and women for the same work
Different pay for the same work for men and women has become a cruel reality in different industries. Generally speaking, the key factor that determines the level of income, apart from the level of education, should be one's ability. According to a special study, female students are self-disciplined, hardworking and resilient, and the chances of women taking up jobs, getting promoted and getting increments are no worse than those of men.
Some experts believe that women themselves also have some problems, in addition to improving their own learning and skills, bravely fight for their rights and interests is also a bottleneck that women now need to break through.
(4) Gender segregation of jobs
Because of the influence of traditional industries and traditional concepts, employers select job seekers based on gender, which obviously creates a situation in which men's jobs and women's jobs are separated, thus creating gender segregation of jobs.
From the structure of women's employment, horizontal: between industries, women's jobs are mostly social extensions of family roles. Vertical: the higher up the management ladder, the fewer women there are. The above "ceiling phenomenon" does not only exist in corporatization, but also in the state organs.
The discrimination summarized above is representative of some of the more serious aspects of discrimination in reality, including institutional discrimination such as different retirement ages for men and women, and conceptual discrimination such as different pay for the same work and gender segregation in jobs, while job-search discrimination is a mix of many factors.
