How to replace the spindle bearing of CW6 163 lathe and how to adjust the bearing tightness?

First of all, this drawing is not the spindle of CW6 163 lathe, but it is not very different from the spindle of CW6 163 lathe. Just borrow it.

The installation points are as follows:

1 and CW6 163 spindle bearing groups are composed of two pairs of 3 182D precision double-row roller bearings and a pair of thrust bearings, of which a pair of 3 182 double-row roller bearings is in the front and a pair of thrust bearings are in the position of arrows in the figure. Note: The inner and outer rings of 3 182 double-row roller bearing are detachable.

2. Nuts 8 and 4 shown are used to adjust the first pair of bearings, and nut 1 is used to adjust the last two pairs of bearings.

3. When replacing, install the front bearing outside until the nut 4 is completely loosened, and tighten the nut 4 by hand.

4. After inserting the headstock, two pairs of 3 182 bearings should be adjusted so that each roller can roll with the spindle rotation. Note: the tighter the better! Adjust the thrust bearing to the zero boundary point of the rotating spindle with a screwdriver and a tool magazine.

5. After adjustment, don't forget the lock nut 1 and the lock screws 2 and 5 of nut 4.

6. After replacement, it is best to run at no-load for 30 minutes, so that the bearing position has no abnormal noise and no obvious temperature rise.

The replacement of lathe spindle bearing is one of the key and difficult points in lathe maintenance. A clever young man, who doesn't know anything, can't replace and debug the lathe spindle bearing independently without two years' apprenticeship. Especially now, the prices of these bearings are thousands, and they will break down if they are not improved several times. So it is better to let experienced professional mechanics do it.
