The origin of the formation of Wazijie

Wazijie is the name of an old place in Shanghang County, Longyan City, the ancestral home of the Hakka people, and it is still remembered in the hearts of the Hakka descendants who migrated from Shanghang.

Shanghanghang County Records, "Shanghang County Gazetteer" and other documents and no "Tile Street" records, looking for "Tile Street", became a place of concern at the time. After discussion, experts and scholars proposed: according to folk oral tradition, in the county, there are Lingzi head (now the south side of Taeyang Plaza), Leiping Li, Ju Ren Lane and Hangzhong Road, Gangbei Street (now the People's Road in the middle), the People's Road, the People's Road, above the northern section of the road to the peace of the road along the eastern section of Jiefang Road and other nearly 10 places in the past has been called the tile Street (Lane, ping) of the lot. Now to see how the "tile street" was formed.

There has been a saying in the area since ancient times: "There is no Shanghang City, but there was Guo Fang Village first. Guo Fang village in the new street (later changed to Gangbei Street, now People's Road) to the south, and the old county Yamen opposite. Beimen Street near the county office used to be a busy commercial street, and the people lived close to Beimen Street and New Street. When the people built their houses and needed bricks and tiles, they dug kilns nearby to get the soil for firing. It is said that there were 13 brick kilns around the county office. However, "broken bricks were available and broken tiles were discarded". As more bricks and tiles came out of the kiln, more and more broken tiles were accumulated. From then on, people in the ruins of the ruined tiles on the long days of stepping, it became the tile Ping. The Hakka people who migrated from the Central Plains settled in Waziping and built houses, forming "Wazi Lane" and "Wazi Street", where thousands of Hakka people lived.

With the Hakka people settling in "Wazi Street", the county government office moved to the main street (i.e., the main street, now Jiefang Road), and it became the busiest commercial street in Shanghang. Residents around Gangbei Street, including Wazijie, also gradually developed around the Main Street. They used the old houses on Wazi Street as incense houses, and some of them were converted and expanded into ancestral shrines for their own family names to set up spirits and offer sacrifices to their ancestors. According to the survey, there are more than 20 ancestral halls of more than 20 family names here, such as Wen Family Ancestral Hall, Li Family Ancestral Hall, Zhou Family Ancestral Hall, Zhang Family Ancestral Hall, Ding Family Ancestral Hall, Wang Family Ancestral Hall, Tang Family Ancestral Hall, Lei Family Ancestral Hall, Liao Family Ancestral Hall, Lan Family Ancestral Hall, and Zou Family Temple. Many Hakka descendants from here, to the two GuangZhou, two lakes, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Taiwan and other places, and even overseas to make a living, it is said that the number of people developed to ten million people. In this way, Shanghang became a cradle of the Hakka folk, from the Southern Song Dynasty to the east of Guangdong, southern Fujian and other places, is the Hakka folk Ninghua Shibi after another "ancestral home".

The name "Wazijie" has been passed down in the descendants of the family names of how many migrants from Hangzhou, who do not even know Hangzhou, but remembered "Wazijie". Thus, this name has been kept in the minds of the descendants of Hakka family names who have moved out of the city. Nowadays, following this name, they come to Shanghang from thousands of miles away, looking for the footprints of their ancestors and remembering the performance of their ancestors in opening up new territories. Shanghang was established in 994 A.D. (the fifth year of Chunhua in the Northern Song Dynasty), and is one of the earlier counties in Tingzhou Prefecture. It has beautiful mountains and rivers, fertile land, long rivers, convenient irrigation, abundant rainfall and pleasant climate. The unique natural environment is favorable to the farming economy, suitable for the Hakka ancestors to recuperate; Ting River and its main tributaries of the Old County River, Huangtan River running through the territory to facilitate the development of shipping, suitable for the development of Hakka folk broadcasting.
