Briefly describe the development and evolution of traditional culture in China.

The pre-Qin period was a period in which a hundred schools of thought contended and three religions and nine streams formed.

Later, the rule of law in the Qin Dynasty was established, that is, Han Fei's legalist theory.

At the beginning of the Western Han Dynasty, due to the need to recuperate after years of fighting, Huang Lao did nothing, so the rule of Wenjing appeared, which laid the foundation for the prosperity of Hanwu later.

By the time of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Confucianism began to really flourish, taking Dong Zhongshu's "exclusive respect for Confucianism, ousting hundreds of schools, exclusive respect for Confucianism"

Then Buddhism became popular in the Eastern Han Dynasty, but it was not the mainstream at that time. Metaphysics was dominant in Wei and Jin Dynasties, mainly because of the unification of the three kingdoms in the Western Jin Dynasty, but the political instability, such as the rebellion of eight kings, made most people choose to escape, so Taoism prevailed at that time, and Tao Te Ching, Zhuangzi and Zhouyi were called "San Xuan" (Wang Xizhi's Preface to Lanting had the idea of persuading people not to avoid the world).

Buddhism flourished in the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and Buddhism was introduced to China. One reed crossed the river and sat on the side wall of Shaoshi Mountain, leaving Yijin Sutra and pulp washing Sutra.

In the subsequent Sui and Tang Dynasties, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism were three pillars, Confucianism had three provinces and six departments and imperial examinations, Taoism was supported by the Longzhong family, and Buddhism was supported by the later Wu Zetian. At that time, the scholar-officials prevailed that Confucianism governed the world, Taoism governed the mind, and Buddhism governed the body.

Five Dynasties and Ten Countries are basically the same.

Neo-Confucianism began to flourish in the Song Dynasty, that is, it changed to Confucianism, and then the eight-part essay system in the Ming Dynasty was controlled by Neo-Confucianism until modern times.

(It should be noted that in fact, since the Hanwu period, Confucianism has been combined with law, and Confucianism ruled the surface and was within the rule of law. )
