Lu Opera originated in Binzhou City, Shandong Province.

Lu Opera, also known as disguised dulcimer and Shaanxi Opera, is a national intangible cultural heritage. It is one of the eight major operas in China and the most representative local opera in Shandong. Popular in most areas of Shandong University and parts of Jiangsu, Anhui and Northeast provinces. It originated in the Yellow River Delta in the northeast of the mountain and evolved from Qin Shu.

Its music belongs to banqiang, and it also sings Qupai. The main accompaniment instruments are lyre, dulcimer, sanxian and pipa, which are collectively called "four major pieces of Lu Opera". It is deeply loved by the broad masses of the people with its concise and vivid language, beautiful singing and colorful musical vocabulary.

1953, the first provincial academy group-Shandong Lu Theatre was established. During this period, famous artists such as Lang Xianfen, Lin Jianhua and Li Daijiang appeared, as well as famous plays such as Sisters Easy to Marry, Forced Marriage and Li Er's Sister-in-law remarried.
