Question about cinematography in the 90's and modern times!

Personally, I feel the realism of the movie picture effects nowadays. But the characters in the 90's movie drama are real 。。。。 Just feel that every character in the 90's movie is rich.... I don't think it's the technology. There are good movies now. But don't want so many classics from the 90s.

I just watched a lot of 90s movies two days ago, "Farewell My Concubine", "Half Life", "Rouge Buckle", "Sweet Honey". I feel like the movies nowadays lack details. Maybe it's a kind of fast food, I feel that the movies in the past had our characteristics, but now it seems that all of them are learning from Europe and America, fashion, fashion, high definition, special stunts. Although some of the movies may be reflecting real life, after all these processing, they always feel far away from our lives. The movies of the 90's can clearly feel the mark of an era, but nowadays the movies don't have their own style. Is it always better to learn from others?
