Jade chisel with concave blade unearthed in Sanxingdui

On May 29th, another precious cultural relic was unearthed in Sanxingdui. A jade chisel with concave edges was found in the middle of pit 4, and the ivory superimposed on it was completely exposed after it was taken out.

Pale yellow jade, nearly cuboid, with a blade at one end and a straight end. The size is larger, with a length of 30 cm, a blade width of 6.5 cm, a top width of 4.5 cm and a thickness of 1.5~2 cm. After thousands of years, the jade chisel is still bright and delicate!

A jade chisel is a chisel made of jade. In the Stone Age, the chisel was a common tool. However, in Sanxingdui period, they were ritual vessels to show power and status. For the purpose of this jade chisel, experts speculate that it may be an object with a certain function or an important etiquette appliance, and the specific function needs further study.
