Thirteen forms of Taiji, meaning, usage and function!
How to understand the whole of the thirteen potential movements? Wang Zongyue, the ancestor of Tai Ji Chuan, explained all the contents of the Thirteen Potential Movement for later Tai Ji Chuan people from a macro perspective in his article "Explain the Name of Tai Ji Chuan". "Ming Shi" said: Taiji Chuan-A Changquan, also known as Thirteen Kung Fu. Long-term Boxer Rebellion: Like the Yangtze River, the rivers and seas are boundless. Thirteen potential people: push, caress, squeeze, press, pick, pull, elbow, tilt, retreat, hope and decide. Push, stroke, squeeze, push, pull, shake and change; The four oblique angles of pick, pick, elbow, lean, dry, Kun, Gen and Xun are also gossip. Advance, retreat, protection, hope and determination are five elements, namely, gold, wood, water, fire and earth. In a word, it is called "Thirteen Potential". Mr. Wang Zongyue clearly expounded the overall content of the thirteen potentials, and unified the boxing method, boxing theory, structure and operation framework. Tai Ji Chuan's Eight Doors and Five Steps are the structure and content of boxing. The Eight Diagrams and Five Elements are the running framework of boxing, which can be said to be the source of its thirteen potentials and must be unified from top to bottom. There is a framework but no content. This frame is empty; And some content has lost its framework, so this content has no guidance. Because it lost its source (the source of gossip and five elements), it became an associative word. Only by combining the above two aspects can we achieve the real "Thirteen Potential" content. In this paper, the thirteen potential described in Ming Shi, the works of thirteen potential music and thirteen potential actions with other words added after thirteen potential should be discussed separately.
As the name implies, the "thirteen potentials" are composed of eight and five, and thirteen taiji spreads eight doors (eight strengths) to do thirteen in five steps; Eight diagrams and five elements are combined into thirteen, and their combination is called thirteen potentials. In principle, the requirements of the thirteen potential theory still need eight doors and five steps to correspond to the eight diagrams and five elements, but they cannot be separated. The following briefly introduces how to correspond:
The eight strengths of Taiji are divided into four positive strengths and four angular strengths. Four positive forces should correspond to four positive hexagrams, and four angular forces should correspond to four oblique hexagrams. These five steps should correspond to the five elements, and there should be a check mark in principle. First of all, according to the force of the Four Righteousness, it belongs to the force of the Four Righteousness, and should correspond to the column (north), distance (south), earthquake (east) and intersection (west) of the Four Righteousness hexagrams; The four corners of picking, hitting, elbow and leaning should correspond to the four oblique angles of trunk (northwest), Kun (southwest), Gen (northeast) and Xun (southeast); The five steps of advancing, retreating, protecting, looking and setting correspond to gold (west), wood (east), water (north), fire (south) and soil (middle). One-to-one correspondence is the characteristic of thirteen potentials. If we don't combine the eight diagrams and five elements, we only talk about the "thirteen potentials" in a one-sided way, which is only half of our understanding of the "thirteen potentials". Because the word "thirteen potentials" comes from the eight diagrams and five elements, it is difficult to find this half.
Here, Taiji Zhuan and Thirteen Potential are synonyms. It can be called "Taiji Biography" and "Thirteen Potentials". The name of "Thirteen Potentials" comes from the Eight Diagrams in the Book of Changes and the Yin-Yang theory that five lines of gossip is divided into innate gossip and the Eight Diagrams after tomorrow, and innate gossip is Fuxi's Eight Diagrams. The gossip of the day after tomorrow is the gossip of King Wen. Why is Thirteen Potentials the Eight Diagrams of King Wen? Innate gossip and the acquired gossip have the same name, but different names. Innate gossip faces south for dry divination, and north for Kun divination; The gossip facing south in the next day is called Li Gua, and the gossip facing north is called Kan Gua. Eight hexagrams have different positions. According to the hexagrams in Wang Zongyue's Taiji Zhuan Shi Ming, leaving hexagrams means looking at the hexagrams in the south and locating them in the hexagrams in the north. According to this argument, it is believed that the source of "thirteen potentials" comes from Wang Wen's gossip, that is, the gossip of Zhouyi.
The five steps should correspond to the five elements-front, back, left, right and neutral-and combine the fixed positions of gold, wood, water, fire and earth. In practice, the five steps at the foot should try to move towards all five elements, even once, which is also an important content of the "Thirteen Potential". According to Yang's Old Classic Biography in Qing Dynasty, when the Eight Gates mentioned five elements and five steps, they said, "Enter (fire), retreat (water), left (wood) and right (gold), and set the direction of China." "Husband is a fire and water step, looking forward to Jin Mu's step, taking China as the axis of the cardinal, hiding gossip and stepping on five elements; Thirteen steps are natural. " The above is the rule passed down by the founder of the pool, and it is also the rule that people in later generations should abide by.
To practice Tai Ji Chuan, we should abide by two rules: First, we should inherit the tradition and focus on writing, not creating it ourselves. Especially the "Thirteen Potential", which is the sum of the Eighth Five-Year Plan and the general framework of Tai Ji Chuan. If you don't keep the big framework, you lose the rules. Second, we should pay attention to the laws of physiological movement in practice, so as to combine boxing theory with physiology to achieve good exercise effect. On the premise of maintaining these two points, give full play to their respective skills.
Tai Ji Chuan's exercises are very important for a complete understanding of the thirteen potentials. Understanding the overall meaning of "Thirteen Potential" can deepen Tai Ji Chuan's internal exploration, broaden our thinking and open up a new world for in-depth exploration. In order to let beginners know the layout of the upper right corner and the position of the five elements mentioned in the article, the author made a diagram of eight diagrams and five elements for reference, and attached the specific contents of eight diagrams, such as eight diagrams, eight diagrams, eight diagrams, eight diagrams, and so on, which will be clear to interested people at a glance.
We should treat the inheritance of traditional culture from the viewpoint of dialectical materialism: we should not simply copy or completely deny it, but get rid of its dross and take its essence. After hundreds of years of practice, the Taiji culture created by Tai Ji Chuan ancestors is scientific and the essence of traditional culture. Using the Eight Diagrams and Five Elements in ancient culture to determine the orientation of Tai Ji Chuan's walking frame can make boxing practitioners broaden their thinking on the changes of Yin and Yang in ups and downs. In order to improve the understanding of boxing theory, the relationship between boxing physiology and experience boxing, as well as attack and defense. Make the past serve the present and carry forward Taiji culture.
When combining the eight diagrams and five elements, we should avoid falling into the maze of divination, fortune telling, fortune telling and witchcraft divination.
