Definition of high-entropy alloy

At present, a high-entropy alloy can generally be defined as a class of alloys consisting of more than five elemental group elements alloyed in accordance with an equiatomic ratio or close to an equiatomic ratio, whose mixing entropy is higher than the melting entropy of the alloy, and which generally form a high-entropy solid solution phase. In short, in the phase diagram of a five-element alloy, a solid solution phase region exists in the middle position, and this solid solution is currently considered to be a mixed entropy-stabilized solid solution. Typical alloys that have been reported include: alloys with face-centered cubic solid solution structure represented by CoCrCuFeNi found by Ye Junwei et al; and alloys with body-centered cubic solid solution structure represented by A1CoCrFeNi found by Zhang Yong et al.
