What are the methods of arranging flowers?

There are four cutting methods: branch cutting, leaf cutting, leaf bud cutting and root cutting.

(1) Cutting: It can be divided into hard cutting, green cutting and tender cutting.

Hard cuttings are also called dormant cuttings and mature cuttings. Lignified cuttings should be selected with short internodes, thick branches and full axillary buds. Cutting in spring is generally about 20 cm, with 2 ~ 3 buds in one section. The lower part of the branch is cut into inclined planes, the upper end of the terminal bud is flat, and the lower end of the branch is cut into inclined planes, such as roses and Spring Festival.

For green cuttings, semi-woody branches of the current year should be selected for cutting, and semi-woody branches with normal development and no pests and diseases should be selected. The cutting time should be about 10 cm before the plant growth period, leaving 3 ~ 4 buds. The cutting depth should not exceed 1/3 of the branch length, such as rhododendron, jasmine and camellia.

Soft branch cutting is also called soft branch cutting. Growing branches can be used for cutting all year round. It is beneficial to cut off the growing upper branches, which are 5 ~ 10 cm long and have 1 ~ 2 leaves at the top. The main method is to insert the branches into the base with water, change the soil every day, and put them into the pot in time after rooting, such as gardenia.

(2) Leaf cutting: plant leaves are used as cuttings, which are generally used for flowers with strong regeneration. It can be divided into whole leaf shears and partial leaf shears. Leaves with petioles are easy to take root when cutting. The roots of leaves have leaf margins, veins and petioles. Such as begonia, lily and anchovies.

(3) Leaf bud insertion: the insertion method of a leaf with leaf buds and a few stems, which is between leaf insertion and branch insertion. The stem can be cut off near the bud and left a little longer under the bud, so that the growth potential is strong and the roots are strong. The general cutting length is 3 cm. Rubber trees, evergreen leaves, hydrangeas and camellia can all be propagated in this way.

(4) Root cutting: using roots as cuttings to propagate new seedlings is only suitable for varieties whose roots can produce new buds. Generally, when cutting roots, the bigger the roots, the stronger the regeneration ability. Roots can be cut into 5 ~ 10 cm long and inserted obliquely or horizontally to make adventitious buds and fibrous roots occur. Such as peony, wintersweet, gerbera jamesonii, snow willow, persimmon, walnut, begonia rotundifolia, etc.

The factors affecting the survival of cutting are: the temperature must be kept between 20 ~ 25 degrees Celsius; Keep the air humidity above 90%; See the light in time after the cotyledons grow, and the light should not be too strong before; Only a little air is needed in the initial stage of cutting, and a lot of air is needed after long leaves; The water permeability of the substrate must be maintained, and it must have certain water retention and moisture retention, and it should be disinfected before using the substrate; Branches should use growth hormone to promote root growth.
