What is Paraguay tea?

Yerba mate is a kind of leaf tea, which is brewed from the leaves of Madai tree. Madai tree is similar to Ilex macrophylla and is found in South America. Its plant height is between 3 and 6 meters, and its leaves are green and oval.

Paraguay tea is a specialty of Argentina. Although this kind of tea is not only produced in Argentina, some people still say that "you can't come to Argentina without drinking Paraguay tea".

Brewing method:

1, traditional brewing method:

Like the tea ceremony culture in China, the brewing in yerba mate has a sense of ceremony. It is suggested to use hot water instead of boiled water, because too high a temperature will affect the taste of yerba mate. Therefore, it is generally recommended to brew yerba mate with hot water of 70-85 degrees (according to personal preference) to maximize its unique taste.

2. Modern brewing methods:

Use a covered tea set with a fine filter, and avoid using disposable cups. Then take 3 grams (about one teaspoon) of tea leaves, which requires about 250 ml of hot water (about 85 degrees Celsius). Pay attention to the use of pure water. After brewing, it can be drunk after standing for 5 minutes, and can be brewed repeatedly.

Both hot drinks and iced drinks have good flavors. You can add honey and lemon, or try adding milk as milk tea, or adding fruit juice and peel as fruit tea. In addition, most people in Argentina prefer hot drinks, using a special filter straw made by yerba mate, while drinking habits in other countries are slightly different. In countries like Paraguay, ice cubes and lemon slices are mostly added as cold drinks.
