Seminar on "Community Governance and Community Social Work in the New Era" Successfully Held

From June 22nd to 24th, the Seminar on Community Governance and Community Social Work in the New Era and the Inaugural Meeting of the Community Social Work Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Social Work was successfully held in Jinan, Shandong Province, hosted by Shandong Youth Politics College and the Chinese Society of Social Work, and co-sponsored by Shandong Province Association of Social Work, and Shandong Province Research Center for Community Development and Social Work.

At the same time, a ceremony was held to inaugurate the Community Social Work Committee of the Chinese Society of Social Work. Gao Janguo, Director of the Department of Social Work, School of Philosophy and Social Development, Shandong University, and President of Shandong Province Social Work Association, is the Chairman of the Professional Committee; Wang Yuxiang, Dean of the School of Politics and Public **** Management, Shandong Youth Political Science Institute, and Vice President of Shandong Province Social Work Association, is the Executive Vice Chairman; Zhang Jian, Vice President of the School of Politics and Public **** Management, Shandong Youth Political Science Institute, and Supervisor of Shandong Province Social Work Association, is the Secretary General, Gong Yanling of Huizhou Social Workers Association, Li Yue of Suzhou Social Workers Association, and Xia Jincheng of Quanzhou Social Workers Association as Deputy Secretary General. The General Assembly also considered and adopted the three-year action plan and annual work plan of the Community Social Work Professional Committee.

Liu Dongsheng, Director of the Social Work Division of the Administration of Social Organizations of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Xing Hongrui, Deputy Director of the Administration of Social Organizations of Shandong Province, Zhao Pengqi, Chairman of the China Social Work Development Foundation, Zou Xueyin, Executive Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Social Work, Gong Weibin, Director of the Department of Continuing Education of the National School of Administration, Huang Xiaolin, Editor-in-Chief of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Huang Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Shandong Institute of Youth and Politics and President of the Institute of Philosophy and Social Development, Zhang Shuming Gao Janguo, Director of the Department of Social Work, School of Philosophy and Social Development, Shandong University, and President of Shandong Social Work Association, attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Wang Yuxiang, dean of the School of Politics and Public **** Management of Shandong Youth College of Politics and vice president of Shandong Social Work Association. More than 100 people from social work associations of all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government), representatives of community workers, college teachers, and social work students*** attended the conference. Jiang Feng, deputy director of Shandong Province Social Organization Administration, Wang Zhen, section chief, Tian Zhimei, executive vice president of Shandong Province Social Work Association, and Wang Jun, vice president, attended the meeting.

On the morning of the 23rd, five experts and scholars in the field of community governance delivered keynote speeches focusing on the main topics of the seminar. Director Zhao Pengqi talked about the identification of concepts related to community social work and put forward the basic principles of the localization strategy of community social work. Director Liu Dongsheng elaborated on the forms and ideas of the development of community social work in China from the four aspects of development status, development experience, development forms and development ideas, and put forward the development ideas of one fundamental, two principles, golden triangle and four parts. Prof. Gong Weibin reviews and reflects on the achievements and challenges of thirty years of community governance in China from five dimensions: concept, history, motivation, practice and experience, and puts forward seven integrations to promote the local experience of community governance in China. Huang Xiaolin, editor-in-chief, discusses the localization of community social work in China from the perspective of traditional Chinese culture, and argues that attaching importance to traditional Chinese values, promoting the practice of community social work, adapting to the Chinese context, and strengthening the building of human resources are the fundamental ways to promote the localization of community social work in China. Professor Kor Ganguo shared the construction of the public *** community center system in Vancouver, Canada, and emphasized the core position of community service centers, community cultural centers and other basic service facilities in community construction.

In the afternoon, representatives of social work associations and community social work service organizations from six cities, namely Huizhou, Suzhou, Chengdu, Quanzhou, Weifang, and Shenzhen, shared their experiences and innovations in advanced community services, such as the 6+1 project, the one-build-four-connections model, the socialization of community services, the five-component mechanism, the six-pronged one service model, and the embedded development. Secretary General Zou Xueyin presided over the three-year action plan and annual work plan of the Community Social Work Committee, pointing out that the Community Social Work Committee of the Chinese Society of Social Work will be practice-oriented, carry out practical research, summarize the domestic and international service models, and build a community social work service **** enjoyment platform driven by the exchange of linkage.

The success of this seminar will further enhance the summary of experience and theoretical research on community governance and community social work in China, promote the process of community social work in China to help community governance, and also help practical community workers to grasp their functions and positioning more clearly, promote the development of social governance and services, and realize the prosperity and development of grassroots urban and rural communities.

The establishment of the Community Social Work Committee of the Chinese Society of Social Work marks a new starting point for standardized and scientific community governance innovation. The Committee will be oriented towards the construction of community social work systems, theoretical research and institutional construction, formulate and introduce comprehensive and standardized standards for community governance innovation, absorb advanced experiences from all over the country, and gather the strengths of all parties to bring together the practice of community social work, talent cultivation, scientific research and policy development, and to promote the development of community social work.

To promote the sustainable development of grassroots community governance and community social work in the new era, we will effectively link talent cultivation, scientific research and policy advocacy, and play the role of a think tank.
