Hollander's model of vocational interest is hexagonal

The Hollander Model of Vocational Interest is hexagonal.

In contemporary culture, most people can be categorized into one of six personality types: RealisticType, InvestigativeType, ArtisticType, SocialType, and EnterprisingType.

The six types can be arranged in a fixed order to form a hexagon (RIASEC): ArtisticType (A), SocialType (S), EnterprisingType (E), and ConventionalType (C).

People with each specific personality type are interested in the content of the corresponding occupational type. Thus, a person's propensity for occupational interest is a reflection of his or her personality.

In contemporary society, occupational environments, like personalities, can be categorized into six types: realistic, research, artistic, social, career, and routine.

Specific classification:

(1) Realistic:

Personality traits: willing to use tools to engage in the operation of the work of the strong; hands-on ability, do things with flexible hands and feet, coordinated movement; not good at speech, not good at socializing.

Occupation type: all types of engineering and technical work, agricultural work; usually requires a certain amount of physical strength and the use of tools or the operation of machinery.

(3) Artistic:

Personality traits: like to express their talents and realize their own value through various forms of artistic creations; have special artistic talents and personalities; enjoy creating novel and different artistic achievements, and are eager to express their personalities.

Type of occupation: mainly refers to various kinds of artistic creation work.

(4) Social Type:

Personality Characteristics: like to engage in serving and educating others; like to participate in solving the social problems that people are concerned about, and are eager to play their own social roles; attach more importance to social obligations and social morality

Occupation Type: mainly refers to all kinds of direct service for other people's work, such as medical service, education service, life service and so on. The main occupations: teachers, caregivers, nurses, teachers, and other workers.
