What are the four major fishing grounds in China?

There are four major fishing grounds in China, namely: Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea Fishing Ground (mainly distributed in Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea), Zhoushan Fishing Ground (East China Sea), Nanhai Fishing Ground (Guangdong, Hainan Coast) and Beibu Gulf Fishing Ground (Beibu Gulf).

1, Zhoushan fishing ground

Zhoushan Fishing Ground is the largest fishing ground in China. It is located in the east of Hangzhou Bay, the northeast of Zhejiang and the southeast of the Yangtze River estuary. It is a traditional fishing area for fishermen in Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Taiwan Province provinces, and mainly produces four kinds of economic fish: large yellow croaker, large yellow croaker, hairtail and squid.

2. Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea Fishing Ground

Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea Fishing Ground is located in Bohai Bay area, covering an area of about 3,600 square nautical miles. It is the main fishing ground for fishermen in Shandong Province and Liaoning Province. The main fishing targets are small yellow croaker, hairtail and prawn.

3. South China Sea Fishing Ground

Nanhai Fishing Ground is a famous tropical fishing ground in China. It is an important fishing ground for tuna, mackerel, red fish, sharks and groupers.

4. Beibu Gulf Fishing Ground

Beibu Gulf Fishing Ground, located in the northwest of South China Sea in China, is a semi-enclosed bay, which is an excellent fishing ground for red snapper, golden thread snapper and blue snapper.

Reasons for the formation of fishing grounds

The formation of fishing grounds is generally nothing more than the following reasons: the convergence of cold and warm currents, upwelling, coastal currents and water mass movement. The appearance of these factors will disturb the sea water, stir up the nutrients at the bottom, breed a large number of plankton and attract a large number of fish to feed.

China sea area spans temperate zone and tropical zone, covering a vast area. There are many rivers in coastal waters with complex ocean currents and water mass systems, most of which are located in continental shelf waters, which is an excellent condition for forming fishing grounds.
