Shishu xinyu was compiled by Liu Yiqing (刘义庆) and his disciples during the Song Dynasty (宋朝). Liu Yiqing, who inherited the title of King of Linchuan, was a simple and quiet person and loved literature, so he had the ability to compile this book.

The Shishu Xinyu, also known as Shishu and Shishu Xinshu, is a different book.
