"The Hulk" was released in the U.S. over the weekend, however, before the movie was released, pirated copies appeared on the Internet, angering Universal Pictures. After an investigation, US police managed to track down Kelly Gonzalez, who confessed to the crime. It was reported that a few weeks before the release of the movie, for the purpose of television promotion, Universal handed over a copy of the unfinished movie to an advertiser in New York, but despite tight security, an employee of the advertiser took a copy of the movie and handed it over to Kelly Gonzalez. Later, Kelly Gonzalez spreads Tully's story on the Internet in the Netherlands, and the story is circulated back to the United States.
