An Inquiry into the Framework of News Narratology

Different scholars have put forward different views on the theoretical framework of news narratology. The definition given by Qi Aijun in "Reflections on the Theoretical Framework of News Narratology" is that news narratology is the scientific study of the narrative behavior and narrative strategy of the news by taking the news text as the object of study and comprehensively applying the research method of discourse analysis. He said that this definition contains three basic theoretical interfaces of news narratology: the study of news text and discourse structure features; the study of news narrative behavior; and the study of news narrative strategy. These three theoretical interfaces constitute the main theoretical framework of news narratology. 8

The construction of news narratology is a proposition that is being explored. In fact, from the existing research results, it can be said that there are basically two major constructive ideas. One is to take the path of discourse analysis as the path, so that news narratology becomes a focus on the ideological construction behind the surface of the discourse of the language technology analysis of strong learning; a news narratology is understood as the analysis of the literary components of the news works, highly close to the literary narratology.

The research object of news narratology is news text and method. News narrative is true and objective reporting, but at the same time there is a certain tendency in the objective reporting. News has a certain position, and the process of news reporting is a process of interpreting meaning and a process of ideological construction. Therefore the study of news narrator should also be an important aspect of news narratology to be studied. If we look at the communication process of news reporting from a dynamic point of view, there also exists a terminal link of report acceptance in the process of news reporting, and report acceptance and acceptance behavior should also be within the scope of the study of news narratology. Therefore, the theoretical framework of news narratology should include four parts: news narrator; news narrative facts; news narrative discourse; news narrative acceptance.
