Everyone played bronze drums and lusheng, followed the traditional dance pace around the golden bamboo grove, from slow to fast, from low tide to high tide, and celebrated heartily. Young people performed dances such as Jumping off the Gate and Crossing the Broken Bridge, which symbolized hunting and killing the enemy, expressing their memory of their ancestors' heroic and martial spirit and their victory in resisting national oppression. "Master Gong" led many people to worship their ancestors with pig heads, boarded the bamboo platform, and officially announced the start of the Golden Bamboo Dance. "Ma Gongba"-the leader wears a white hat, robes and new shoes and socks, leading the masses to dance on the lusheng and gongs and drums. The dance lasted two days. At noon on the third day, all men, women and children climbed to the top of the mountain together, worshipped their ancestors again under the auspices of "Shigong", and then left one after another.

According to legend, in ancient times, Jiugong, the leader of the Yi people, led troops to war and was defeated in a war. The enemy pursued the victory, but in desperation, Jiugong got into a golden bamboo forest to take refuge. The enemy threw arrows at the forest, but the golden bamboo formed a natural barrier and could not be killed. In a rage, people dispersed into bamboo and marched. Nine princes used their quick wits to ignite bamboo leaves and confuse the enemy. The enemy mistakenly thought that Jiugong was practicing witchcraft and retreated without fighting. Jiugong did not forget Jin Zhu's saving life, and in April of the lunar calendar, he led his people to plant a Jin Zhu in the center of the square as a souvenir.
