Why are all seven star drifters single hooked?
Single hooks on a seven-star drift is traditional fishing, but nowadays it has been improved to double hooks, which combines the advantages of traditional fishing and taiwanese fishing.
The seven-star drift is best suited for fishing in still water, or in waters where the wind and waves have little effect. Its advantages: it enters the water lightly, so it's not easy to disturb the fish in the fishing spot when you raise the rod, and it doesn't create too much resistance when it comes out of the water. It is easy to use, usually when matching the fishing group, you only need to adjust the drift once, and then no need to adjust again, even if you are fishing from shallow to deep, you only need to wipe the float upward, and when you need to fish for floating, you can wipe the float all down.
When you need to fish for the bottom, you can wipe the float upward a few times to reduce some buoyancy. The seven-star float has a large target and is easier to observe, so even if you fish for a whole day, you won't feel tired of watching the float.
Additionally, the biggest advantage of the seven-star drift is that it is easy to get materials and simple to make. The disadvantage is that it is less wind-resistant. In windy conditions, the float will be up and down by the wind and waves, making it difficult to recognize signals. Although the seven-star drift lacks wind-resistant performance, it is still favored by the majority of traditional anglers.
Making
There are many materials used to make the seven-star drift, general avian feathers. Such as peacock feathers, pigeon feathers, goose feathers, duck feathers, chicken feathers and some plant stems can be made (such as sorghum stalks, garlic moss, etc. can be used, but the study of its effect, the first choice should be the chicken wing feathers. The reason is that the internal organization of the chicken feather stalk is tight and buoyant.
Using it for a longer period of time will not cause the hole inside the drift to increase in size and slide due to the angler's repeated upward and downward wiping. I have deliberately tried the different feathers mentioned above, and found that the phenomenon of increasing the hole inside the drift exists in the feathers mentioned above, but only the chicken feathers are getting tighter and tighter the more they are used, especially after being submerged in water.
In the past, when I put on a seven-star drift, I first used an embroidery needle to pierce a hole in the feather stem, and then put the fishing line through it, which was equivalent to putting on a float twice. This is troublesome and laborious, and later found that the advantages of chicken feathers as a float, I will directly use the needle to thread the fishing line directly through the float, both simple and fast, time-saving and labor-saving.
