The beautiful symbolism of the Qingming Festival

The beautiful symbolism of Qingming Festival is:

The symbolism of Qingming Festival is to pay homage to ancestors, remember the martyrs, and is also the link for the Chinese people to recognize their ancestors and more importantly, to know their forefathers.

The Qingming Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in China, and in ancient times it was also known as the Treading Green Festival, the March Festival, the Ancestor Festival, the Tomb Sweeping Festival, the Grave Sweeping Festival, and the Ghost Festival. It is known as one of the three most famous "ghost festivals" in China, along with the Mid-Yuan Festival on July 15th and the Cold Clothes Festival on October 1st. It is celebrated on April 4-6 every year on the solar calendar, and among the 24 festivals, the only one that is both a festival and a holiday is Qingming.

After more than two decades of evolution, the Qingming Festival has gone beyond the meaning of a festival and has extremely rich connotations. Different customs have been developed in different parts of the world, with tomb-sweeping and ancestor worship, and trekking and picnicking being the basic themes.

The current Qingming Festival is a fusion of the three major festivals of Ching Ming, Cold Food and Shang Si, and was finally finalized during the Tang Dynasty, even though it has a history of three to four hundred years from this era.

As a traditional festival carrying a strong Chinese traditional culture and rich in characteristics and vitality, in today's Qingming Festival is still a festival valued by the general public. In recent years, with the accelerated process of global integration and the tremendous development of China's economy, society and culture, many traditional festivals have declined and many traditional customs have been gradually abandoned.

However, there are many traditional festival customs and their connotations that have been preserved in today's period when the whole traditional festival is facing great changes. In the case of the Qingming festival customs, one of its two main themes, namely, the ritual sweeping, which has been preserved in its entirety, has inevitably undergone certain changes.

Tomb-sweeping and ancestor worship at Qingming, a long-standing custom, stems from the traditional culture of ancestor worship and filial piety culture, which is a concentrated manifestation of the cultural spirit of the Chinese people to respect the original and honor the relatives, to be cautious of the end of the day, and to commemorate the virtues of the ancestors, which has become the core of the Qingming Festival festivals and activities.
