How many languages are there in our country?

There are about 30 languages in China.

In terms of language families, the languages spoken by 56 ethnic groups in China belong to five major language families: Sino-Tibetan, Altai, Austronesian, South Asian and Indo-European. The Sino-Tibetan language family is divided into Chinese, Tibetan-Burmese, Miao-Yao and Zhuang-Dong languages.

Belonging to the Tibeto-Burman language family are: Zang, Jiarong, Menba, Cangla, Barrow, Qiang, Pumi, Dulong, Jingpo, Yi, Lisu, Hani, Lahu, Bai, Naxi, Jino, Nu, Anong, Rouruo, Tujia. Miao, Bunu, Burmese and other languages belong to Miao-Yao language family. Zhuang, Buyi, Dai, Dong, Shui, Mulao, Maonan, Raja, Li and gelao language all belong to the Zhuang-Dong language family.

Altai language family is divided into three major language families: Mongolian, Turkic and Manchu-Tungusic. Mongolian language includes Mongolian, Daur, Dongxiang, Yugur, Tu and the eastern security language. Turkic languages include Uygur, Kazakh, Kirgiz, Uzbek, Tatar, Salar, Yugur and Tuva in the west. Manchu, Xibe, Hezhe, Ewenki and Oroqen all belong to Manchu-Tungusic language family.

Austronesian language family belongs to Alpine language, and Hui nationality belongs to Hui dialect. Wa, De 'ang, Brown, Kemu and other languages belong to the Monkmel family of South Asian languages. Among Indo-European languages, Russian belongs to Slavic languages and Tajik belongs to Iranian languages. There is no consensus on the language families of some languages, such as Korean and Beijing.

There are about 30 languages in China. Chinese characters are written to record Chinese, which is used by all Han nationalities, and some nationalities have completely used Chinese characters. Chinese characters came into being in the Neolithic Age before 3000 BC, and the Chinese characters used now gradually evolved from ancient Chinese characters. The Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on National Common Language and Characters determines that standardized Chinese characters are national common characters.
