The origin of Chinese national anthem

National Anthem of the People's Republic of China, formerly known as March of the Volunteers, was written by Tian Han and composed by Nie Er, and was born in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period. As soon as March of the Volunteers came out, it quickly spread to the motherland and overseas with its enterprising words and beautiful tunes. At any time and anywhere, in order to defend the dignity of the country and the nation, the strong fighting spirit and unyielding spirit of the Chinese nation will never be erased.

March of the Volunteers was originally the theme song created by Nie Er in 1935 for the feature film "Children of the Storm" filmed by Shanghai Dentsu Company. This film tells the story of China intellectuals, represented by the poet Xin Baihua, who joined the army in the early 1930s and went to the anti-Japanese front to kill the enemy heroically to save the motherland. It appeared twice in the film and left a deep impression on the audience. Therefore, it soon became the most famous anti-Japanese war song in China.

March of the Volunteers, later designated as National Anthem of the People's Republic of China, also experienced an interesting process:

Since 1935, when the nation was in danger, March of the Volunteers has been widely spread among the people, which has played a great role in inspiring the patriotism of the people of China.

1In the spring of 949, the World Peace Conference was held in Prague, the capital of Czechoslovakia. The delegation of China was invited to attend and learned that the Convention stipulated that all delegations should play and sing their national anthem when they entered the stadium on the opening day. The delegation was a little embarrassed, because the new China had not been established and there was no national anthem representing the new China, so we studied it together and decided to sing march of the volunteers instead.

1June, 949, the Preparatory Committee of the First China People's Political Consultative Conference established the National Anthem Primary Selection Committee, which was composed of Tian Han, Shen Yanbing, Qian Sanqiang, Ou Yangyuqian, Guo Moruo and Xu Beihong. According to Xu Beihong's proposal,1On September 27th, 949, the first plenary session of China People's Political Consultative Conference adopted the Resolution on the Capital, Year, National Anthem and National Flag of People's Republic of China (PRC). The resolution passed: "Before National Anthem of the People's Republic of China was formally formulated, March of the Volunteers was adopted as the national anthem", which reflected the revolutionary tradition and thought of China people in peacetime. 1978 On March 5th, the first meeting of the Fifth National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China adopted National Anthem of the People's Republic of China, who wrote the collective lyrics. On March 14, 2004, March of the Volunteers was formally written into the Constitution as the national anthem at the Second Session of the Tenth National People's Congress.
