2. Can depression be inherited?

(1) causes of depression

The cause of depression is very complicated, and it has not been completely determined yet. It is generally believed that biological factors constitute pathogenic factors or tendencies, and psychological and socio-cultural factors often play the role of "trigger media".

Biological factors include genetic factors and biochemical factors. Social and cultural factors include competition conflict, conflict with traditional culture and stressful life events; Psychological factors are mainly the personality characteristics of patients with depression, coping style of life events and the lack of social support system.

(2) Is depression hereditary?

Genetic factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of depression, which may not directly inherit the pathogenic genes, but inherit a variety of genes or susceptibility qualities related to depression.

Research shows that many patients with depression have a family history of mental illness, and the family members of patients with depression are much more likely to suffer from similar diseases than the general population, and the incidence rate is 15 times that of the general population. The closer the blood relationship, the higher the chance of getting sick. Types of endogenous depression and bipolar depression have higher genetic risk than other forms of depression.

(3) Genetic probability of depression

If a family member suffers from depression, the risk of first-degree relatives (children, parents, compatriots) is 2-3 times higher than that of ordinary people. If both parents and one child suffer from depression, the probability of other children in the family suffering from depression is 40%, and the probability of other children in the family suffering from the same mental disorder is 25%.

(4) Other factors

The earlier the onset of depression in parents, the greater the risk of depression in children. Have a history of anxiety and alcoholism.

In the family, the probability of suffering from depression is also higher than that of the general population. One reason is that alcoholism often masks the symptoms of depression, because depressed people often drink alcohol to relieve pain. So once diagnosed with alcoholism, its potential cause-depression may be ignored (this does not mean that all alcoholics suffer from depression).

(5) Prompt

Although depression is related to heredity, it is also closely related to the acquired growth environment. Families with depression have a heavier atmosphere than other families. Therefore, if parents suffer from depression, efforts should be made to get their children out of depression as soon as possible and create a happy atmosphere for them, which is more conducive to their growth and avoid their suffering from depression.

3. Self-treatment of depression

Treatment of depression (1)

Moderate and severe depression should be treated promptly. At the doctor's suggestion, psychotherapy and antidepressants can be combined, and electroconvulsive therapy can also be used. Please consult your doctor for specific methods. This article will not introduce it in detail.

(2) Self-treatment of depression

Taking some positive self-treatment measures for mild depression has a good effect on getting rid of depression.

Shiatsu Ququan point

Pressing Ququan point is helpful to improve depressive symptoms. The method is as follows: bend the right knee joint, and put the thumb at the crease on the inside of the knee, just below the knee joint (the thigh is bent and stretched several times to reach this point). Press 1 min, 2~3 times, and then repeat the left leg.

do gymnastics

Exercise should be an indispensable part of treating depression. Regular exercise can increase blood supply to the brain, improve mood and relieve mental stress. Even if used alone, it may have unexpected effects. Studies have shown that when studying depression, walking slowly for 30 minutes three times a week can have the same therapeutic effect as psychotherapy. Try to choose an exercise plan that you like and stick to it every day. Any form of exercise helps to get rid of depression. The more energy consumption and aerobic exercise, the better the effect.

Massage with spices

Aromatherapy blades can relieve mental fatigue and help sleep. Essential oils beneficial to improving depressive symptoms include basil, sage, jasmine, rose and yellow chrysanthemum. Essential oil can be placed in a bowl of distilled water (2 or 3 drops), in a bathtub (5 or 6 drops), or on a pillow (1 or 2 drops).

Regulate nutrition and diet

Because malnutrition can aggravate depressive symptoms, it is very important to improve nutrition. Increase the intake of nutritious foods, such as grains, lean meat, fruits and vegetables, fish and low-fat milk products. It is also important to avoid drinking alcohol, and at the same time avoid snacks, sugar, saccharin and caffeine, because this will lead to sudden intake of a lot of calories or pleasure, and then return to a low state.

Improve sleep state

Most patients with depression have the habit of sleep disorder or lethargy, so improving the sleep state of patients with depression is the key link of self-treatment of depression. Keeping a regular work and rest, practicing yoga meditation, increasing physical exercise and improving the sleeping environment are all helpful to improve the sleeping state and quality.

Take part in more group activities.

Patients with mild depression should encourage themselves to participate in group activities. At first, you can start with some simple and easy activities, such as visiting exhibitions and short trips, so as to get a positive experience. Then you can take part in some community volunteer activities, which can increase your social value satisfaction. Finally, you can give full play to your hobbies and engage in routine activities with groups with similar interests, such as running, playing ball and playing chess.

(3) Prevention of depression

At present, scientific theory believes that it may be caused by the dysfunction of neurochemicals in the brain. Therefore, some forms of depression may be difficult to prevent. But there is evidence that seemingly good and healthy living habits can often alleviate or prevent depression. Reasonable diet, exercise, proper rest, avoiding overwork and taking some time to do what you like are all conducive to preventing depression.

(4) Degree of depression.

Mild depression: The patient has some depressive symptoms and finds it difficult to do things. Mild depression often has little effect on work and social interaction.

Moderate depression: the degree of work and social interaction of thinkers is between mild depression and severe depression. Patients have many depressive symptoms and often can't do what they should do.

Severe depression: patients' work and social interaction are obviously affected, which may be accompanied by psychotic symptoms. Patients have almost all symptoms of depression, often unable to carry out normal daily life, and often accompanied by physical symptoms.

(5) Determination of depression

Do you often feel the following:

Persistent sadness and pessimism; Feeling guilty, worthless, helpless or desperate; Lose interest in common activities, including sharing a room; Lack of concentration, it is difficult to concentrate; Insomnia or lethargy; Fatigue and weakness; Anxiety and irritability; Want to commit suicide or die; Slow language and slow action; Gain or lose weight;
