Statistics Bureau: 4% profit growth in automobile manufacturing industry in 2020

On January 27, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) disclosed that in 2020, industrial enterprises above designated size nationwide realized a total profit of 645.161 billion yuan, an increase of 4.1 percent from the previous year.

In 2020, among 41 major industrial industries, the total profits of 26 industries increased year-on-year, while 15 industries decreased. The profits of the major industries are as follows: total profits of the special equipment manufacturing industry increased by 24.4% over the previous year, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry increased by 20.9%, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 20.3%, computers, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry increased by 17.2%, general equipment manufacturing industry increased by 13.0%, textile industry increased by 7.9%, electrical machinery and equipment Manufacturing industry increased by 6.0%, agricultural food processing industry increased by 5.9%, automobile manufacturing industry increased by 4.0%, electric power, heat production and supply industry increased by 3.4%, non-metallic mineral products industry increased by 2.7%; oil and gas mining industry decreased by 83.2%, petroleum, coal and other fuel processing industry decreased by 26.5%, coal mining and washing industry decreased by 21.1%, ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry decreased by 7.5%. rolling processing industry fell by 7.5%.

In 2020, industrial enterprises above designated size realized operating income of 106.14 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.8% over the previous year; incurred operating costs of 89.04 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.6%; operating income profit margin of 6.08%, an increase of 0.20 percentage points over the previous year.
