Preserve the village formed by the combination of Shirakawa Township and Wuyue Mountain.
Shirakawa township was originally designated as the scheduled site for dam construction, but with the protests, the Japanese noticed the need to keep the joint construction. Therefore, from 1967, the earliest existing Tamura House with a history of 400 years (an important cultural heritage designated by the state) was moved to Shirakawa Township for preservation, forming the largest existing co-construction settlement. At present, there are 1 13 buildings in shirakawa township [4].
In order to properly protect these special buildings, the villagers launched a conservation movement, and established the "Daimachi Village Natural Environment Protection Society in Shirakawa Township" in 197 1, and formulated the residents' regulations for protecting assets. 1976 under the impetus of the law on the protection of cultural property, the "important traditional building protection areas" have been fully protected according to law. 1995 Wuyue Village in Baichuan Township was registered as a world cultural heritage.
