Weiya is a traditional folk festival in southern Fujian, the "end" of merchants' one-year activities and the "first sound" of people's Spring Festival activities. The second and sixteenth day of each month is the day when Minnan businessmen worship the land god, which is called "tooth making". February 2 is the first time to make teeth, called "head teeth"; 1February 16 The dentist was the last dentist, so it was called "tail tooth".
"Tooth" is a folk ritual to the landlord in China. In traditional customs, businessmen must prepare three kinds of animals and four kinds of fruits, incense sticks and paper money on the second and sixteenth day of each lunar month to worship the foundation owners and landowners. In the sacrificial ceremony, it is essential to pluck the hair and cook the chicken, which is used to symbolize the prosperous business.
The History and Origin of Tail Teeth
This festival is mainly popular in the southeast coast, especially in Fujian and Taiwan Province. But it is indeed a traditional festival in China, which is related to the worship of land gods in China.
It is said that Zhang Fude, a servant of the Zhou Dynasty, accompanied his beloved daughter thousands of miles to find her father because her master went to a distant place to be an official, and Zhang Fude sacrificed his life to save her daughter from freezing to death. The master felt his loyalty and built a temple for sacrifice. Zhou Wuwang was named "Houtu". Later, everyone regarded it as "Fude Shen Zheng" because it could benefit the village and people.
