Jaw facelift procedure for jaw reshaping surgery

There are two basic ways to correct small jaw deformity: one is mandibular osteotomy anteriorly and the other is prosthesis placement. The former way is complicated and mostly used for the correction of severe small jaw deformity; the latter way is simple, short operation time and less pain to the patient, which is known to be the commonly used way of jaw augmentation in clinic. Regardless of the type of augmentation, it can be done through both intraoral and extraoral incisions. The intraoral incision is made through an incision in the labiobuccal sulcus of the mouth, which does not leave any obvious external scarring. However, the possibility of postoperative infection is relatively high. The extra-oral incision is made from the posterior border of the jaw, i.e., under the chin, and leaves an external scar, but since it exists in a more hidden area, it will not affect the cosmetic effect of the surgery. The way of mandibular osteotomy varies according to the severity of the deformity. The method is to use special instruments to amputate part of the bone of the mandible, and then fix it after forward displacement. Jaw augmentation with a prosthesis is to place a carved prosthesis into the separated mandibular cavity. The prosthesis used includes silicone, med bubble, artificial bone, etc. The first two have a variety of well-processed specifications, which are more commonly used in the clinic.
