Japanese Hat
The otabi (hat) was the everyday wear of a public official or a retainer. In the Heian period, the hat was made in the shape of a pouch sewn from ropes and painted with black lacquer, and was about ten feet high; however, from the Kamakura period onward, the height of the hat was gradually lowered, and during the Edo period, the hat evolved into a square hat with folds made of paper. There are many different types of hats, but the "tateboshi" is generally used by the public.
Names of the various parts of a tate-ubo hat: "Tate-ubo" (たてえぼし). Tateboshi is an example of a hat made after the Edo period. The paper is folded into folds and painted with black lacquer, and all the folds are called "锖(さび)". The joint in the center of the top of the hat is called "みね". In the front of the depression, like a gourd that protrudes out of the part known as the "child head (ひながしら)", under the folded line of the place is called "eyebrow (?)", "the" (ひながしら), "the" (ひまゆ), "the" (ひながしら). Mayu". This is modeled after the shape of the high hat made in the Heian period. The space between the head and the back edge of the hat is called the "kazakuchi," and on the inside of the left and right edges of the hat there is a small knot called the "koyuki. On the inside of the left and right edges of the hat, there are straps called "koyuki" that allow you to adjust the size of the hat appropriately.
The eyebrows of the hat:
The eyebrows of the hat are the part of the hat that is folded in front of the hat. When you are young, you can wear a hat called "Moromayu" (もろまゆ), which is folded on both the left and right sides; the left eyebrow is usually used, and the right eyebrow is reserved for the Emperor. Of course, if the family is authorized by the Emperor, the right-browed hat can be used for generations.
Today's clergymen wear a tatami hat with all the eyebrows when they wear their kimono.
The FOH of the hat:
The folds on the hat are called "sabi". The higher the age, the greater the size of the foh of the hat worn by a person in a high position. Those who were not allowed to go to the temple, and those who were not allowed to go to the temple, wore a small FOH on their hats.
Nowadays, almost all of the hats worn by the clergy are made of small foh, and few of them are made of willow foh.
Size of the hat:
Like the crown, the size of the hat changed with the times. In the Edo period (1603-1867), the size of the hat was so small that it could be fixed on the head, and it gradually began to increase in size after the Meiji period. Unlike the crown, the modern ougon is an elastic type that can be adjusted in size - the size of the ougon is adjusted appropriately by using a small knot in the wind. The ougon hat was originally fixed with a button. This was done by tying a small knot on the inside of the brim to the bottom of the bun. Since the weight of the hat itself was relatively light in the era when thin cloth was used to make the otabe, it was possible to secure the hat in this way. After the Muromachi period, the knot gradually became a mere decoration, and the task of fixing it was shifted to the kasuri, and the change in the method of fixing it was generally the same as that of the crown. On the left and right sides of the inner side of the hat, there are knobs in the shape of loops, and the threads made of paper twists are hung down from both sides and then knotted. This method of tying the hat is called "shinobigake" (忍挂). The "Okinaga" method can also be used for ages. There is also a method of tying the kimono with the kimono completely attached to the outside of the hat. In the case of cuju matches, it is always used, and it is a method of tying the hat with the ten characters on the back of the hat.
If it is a service hat, the bun should be tied with a twist of paper, and the thread is led out from the small hole at the back of the hat, and the hat is fixed together. The part of the knot that leads out of the hat creates a special beauty, so it is often decorated with various colors and lengths of string. Normally, the knot only serves to hold the hat in place, but when the hat is worn to participate in a festival, it is tied with the "chiruzugake" (top knot) method. However, in the Muromachi period, due to changes in hairstyles, the use of the chigozukage became rare.
The kimono:
The kimono is usually made of twisted paper, but there were times when it was fastened with a clasp like the kimono. It is also possible to use group buttons in order to differentiate between the groups in cuju tournaments, which are authorized by a royal decree. Purple was used until the age of forty, then thin purple was used, and navy blue was used after the age of fifty. Even today, the clergy still use paper twists to hang their clothes.
From the time of the erection of the udon, the udon has evolved in a variety of forms.
Because it was not easy for people to move around in the wind, the takarigatu hat was folded down from the upper third of the hat, giving rise to an evolutionary hat called the kazarigatu hat (かざおりえぼし). Since this type of hat was lightweight and easy to use, it was worn by senior samurai during the Muromachi period, and soon became the official hat of the emperor and the following six officials. Generally, the emperor wore a right-folded, wind-folded ougi hat, while his ministers used a left-folded one (of course, there were exceptions to this rule), and the emperor used a group buckle to hang his hat, while his ministers used a paper twist to hang theirs.
The evolution of the oguri hat, which is folded several times to form a scarf shape that holds the hair in a bun, is known as the "Saito oguri hat" (originally, it was called the "Orei eboshi hat"). There are various schools of folding, and one of them is the kansei fold. Later on, the scarf design was lost due to changes in the hairstyles of the samurai class in the Muromachi period, and the design of a large triangular shape at the front of the hat became popular. In the Edo period, the shape of the hat became more formalized, and the boat-shaped hat made of lacquer-coated paper became the crown hat of the lower-ranking samurai when they wore the "Suo" dress. Since the shape of the boat-shaped hat was very similar to the packaging of natto at that time, it was also called a "natto hat.
Today, sumo bisai referees (yokozuna) wear Kamakura-era armor and old-fashioned kimono hats, which, like crowns, are made in larger sizes.
The soft hat that is worn under the helmet is called "Momieboshi". When you wear this hat, you wrap your head in a white cloth turban. The turban is fastened at the back of the head in the case of the Ritaiwu hat, and at the front of the head in the case of the Iritaiwu hat. Turban method is generally wrapped from the reverse side, and finally in the front buckle. To Li Ta Wu hat, for example, that is, from the back of the head forward cross, and finally back around the back buckle. Wu hat from the helmet above the "top point" pulled out a small head, used to fix the helmet.
The hat worn by the subordinate is written in Japanese as "the hat of the call". One of the level cap which is high with the red (たいこう) or mixed colors (ぞうしき) made in the shape of the wind folded hat of the simple hat "Hirai (へいらい - ひれ) hat". There is also the "Hari" hat, which is sewn with two thin pieces of cloth and is used by white men. Reference from /%B1%AD%C3%E6%C3%A8/blog/item/46d243eed3ebe12f2cf534e6.html
