The hollow vermicelli in Zhangjiashan Town is an ancient traditional pasta snack. So, what is the historical legend of hollow vermicelli?

1. According to legend, during the Warring States Period, Ying Zheng, king of Qin, led his troops to fight day and night in order to accomplish the great cause of reunifying the six countries, often without drinking water or eating rice for several days.

2. One-day tour at the southern foot of Qinling Mountain, which is the sunny side of the mountain (now Shanyang County, Shangluo) with plenty of sunshine.

3. The king of Qin saw an old man hanging a row of noodles as thin as hair in the farmhouse by the roadside. Let him cook when his appetite is big. The old man quickly cooked the noodles and poured them into a big bowl of peasant sauerkraut soup. After Qin Shihuang ate it, he felt sour, fragrant, slippery, refreshing and delicious.

When the king of Qin asked, the old man replied that this is handmade noodles, which is also called "longevity noodles" because of its "slender" shape. Qin Shihuang was overjoyed and rewarded the old man.

Since then, local officials have presented handmade dried noodles to the imperial court every year, and listed them as the best products of royal health care.
