Introduction of Fairy Festival

Fairy Festival is a traditional folk festival of Nu people in Gongshan. The local Flower Festival, also known as the Flower Festival, is held on March 15 of the lunar calendar every year. At that time, the cave where the stalactites are located will be chosen as the fairy cave in each village, and people will bring sacrificial supplies for sacrifice.

The legend of fairy festival

Fairy Festival comes from an ancient legend. It is said that a long time ago, a beautiful girl named Arong in Jimude Village invented a bamboo pole to leap over the Nujiang River and brought sweet spring water to people on Gaoligong Mountain. Arong's name spread all over the banks of the Nujiang River, and people called her a "fairy".

Ah Rong's beauty made the hateful leader want to possess Ah Rong, so Ah Rong had to hide in the deep mountains and caves in Gaoligong Mountain. The chief never gave up and chased him to the mouth of the cave. On the fifteenth day of the third lunar month, Arong was burned to death in the cave. Since then, people have held sacrificial activities to commemorate "Fairy" Ah Rong, and finally gradually formed the custom of Fairy Festival.
