Chinese Choir Animation Series-"Love Thoughts

Red beans are born in the southern country, and several branches are sprouted in spring.

I wish you would pick them up more often, they are the most lovesick.

The song Wang Wei's "lovesickness" must be memorized by everyone, and the animation introduced to you today is a poignant love story that unfolds on the clue of the red beans that symbolize "lovesickness".

Inspired by the famous poem "Red Beans" by poet Wang Wei, "Acacia" tells a poignant love story between Wang Chutong, a famous scholar in Jiading during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), and his childhood friend, Liuniang. They love each other, but Liuniang's family forces her to marry a rich young man, leading to a failed marriage. After experiencing the ups and downs of life, the two meet again and decide to treat each other as brother and sister and support each other in the future, instead of being lovers anymore.

As a purely hand-drawn animation based on classical literature, Acacia is also very Chinese in its graphic mood. The colors used are light and elegant, complementing the background of the story. With detailed characterization and fitting music, the beautiful but doomed to tragedy love also adds a long classical flavor.

Since it was uploaded to social media platforms such as Vmovie.com, MiaoPai.com and Bilibili on December 23rd, "Acacia" has been viewed more than 100 million times in less than 10 days.

Hailed by many netizens as the first animated film to bring tears to their eyes in 2017, "Acacia" has set off a wave of "Chinese style" in domestic animation production.

This animation is the second episode of the "Chinese Choir" animation series, which is one of the key projects of Shanghai Jiading 800 years, and the whole series is supervised by young director Lin Xujian, and distributed by New Studio. Also involved in the production are animation director Peng Qingzheng and composer Mr. Yi Fenglin. Young historian Li Xia'en participated in the historical verification and scriptwriting of the film, and the soundtrack was composed by the newest member of the team, Mr. Wei Zhuo Cheng, in the United States.

Why is a small animated short so popular?

Here's what director Peng Qingzheng had to say about it -

"Honestly, it's the quality. I'm confident that everything in the animation will stand up to the test of history.

In this regard, I came to the following conclusions after watching the short film a few times:

The story of Wang Chutong, a famous gentleman in Jiading, is used as a backdrop, and a red bean, which is used throughout the love of love.

The red bean is regarded as a token of lovesickness by the ancients. Three hundred years ago, in the small town of Fangtai in Jiading, the spring rain was sticky. The young Wang Chutong braved the rain to put a small red beans into the palm of the six niang, the initial thread of love accompanied by Wang Wei's "lovesickness" poem entwined in the hearts of the two people. The two young heart to heart, the childhood sweethearts of the marriage of heaven, laughter, heart-warming moments but it is difficult to escape the wind and rain of time, the total corner of the joy of the young, but also into the youthful shyness and uneasiness. When the open door is closed forever, whether it will also be the love between the two people cut off at the waist?

That day, the sky is still drizzling, but the love of the hands and eyes has been transformed into a different side of the love, he held the red bean hairpin, knowing that he can no longer inserted into her sideburns like clouds, tears and rain dripped into the lips, the taste of lovesickness, is bitter.

The director said: from the background props, to the character of each line, conducted a lot of research to ensure that the historical facts can be reproduced. And also invited historian Gu Zhengwu (顾正武) who is more familiar with the history and culture of Jiading as a consultant.

Every shot, every look, every action, showing the innocence of the childhood sweethearts, but also the indescribable love, the implicit and passionate feelings like the continuous rain of Jiangnan, spreading in the heart.

The red beans boiled into a lingering wound or sweet memories?

As an adult, Liuniang is a beautiful woman, a young girl in the boudoir, her heart belongs to her lover.

But she was forced to marry a rich man from the right family. The story of the man who was born to a rich family is a story of a man who was born to a rich family.

Wang Chutong finally embarks on a journey alone with a red bean token in her hand.

In the beginning of the short film, "Acacia" of the "Si", "heart" on the point to red beans metaphor, a red bean bloom a red oil paper umbrella, see the red bean hairpin, began a period of longing. A red bean bloomed a red oil-paper umbrella, saw the red bean hairpin, and began a period of longing. And the oil paper umbrella is also a very representative feature of the Jiangnan water towns, the Jiangnan flavor and thoughts embodied;

The red beans on the tree are ripe, along the pods, the leaves slipped down. A butterfly breaks out of its cocoon, the wings of this butterfly are made of paper cuttings, fluttering around the branches of the tree. The ripe red beans herald the beginning of Liuniang's growth into a pavilion girl. The paper-cut butterfly shows the mastery of traditional Chinese culture on the one hand, and when it flies out after the red beans have slipped off, it shows the maturity of the two people's love for each other. All the more reason to hope for a good outcome.

Xiao Xiu Cai at home to eat red bean congee froze, remembering the six mother fed him a mouthful of red beans; Xiao Xiu Cai in the knowledge of the six mother marriage, went to the six mother home outside, tearing heart and lungs in pain, want to knock and can not knock the helplessness of the door, inside the door of the six mother's painful crying and lamentation. Each of these settings shows the love of the red beans, and the loss of the class that prevents them from being reunited.

There is also the alley that Chutung went through to find Liuniang, the birds on the tree when he memorized the poem, the frogs on the rainy day, as well as the butterflies and the town. Everywhere is a painting. The short ends with the singing of the poem, and the elegant voice, coupled with the fresh melody, brings out the overall emotion.

Additionally, the Chinese landscape painting coloring technique and the Chinese-style soundtrack add to the charm of the animation's success.

Through the love story of Chutung and Liuniang, the bustling scene of Jiading's old street in the movie is once again presented before our eyes.

The characteristic details of Jiading's architecture are also portrayed.

The clean water town scene, the warm flavor of red beans, and the strong love for each other, step by step, are dyed in the camera.

This "Acacia" is actually the upper part, which is only about Liuniang marrying a woman and Chutong going to the capital to catch the examination, and the plot will unfold in "Acacia" (below) afterwards.

Finally, let's enjoy this "Xiang Si" together!

ps: Chinese Choir animated series, let Chinese culture continue to move and resound.
