What are the traditional folk festivals related to?
China's current calendar: one is Gregorian calendar (that is, the calendar used by most countries in the world, the term is Gregorian calendar), which is a pure solar calendar. One is the traditional calendar in China, now called the lunar calendar, which is a combination of yin and yang. Because the traditional calendar in China is a combination of yin and yang, traditional festivals in China are found in both the lunar calendar and the solar calendar. For example, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Lantern Festival, Double Ninth Festival and Spring Festival (called New Year's Day in ancient times) are all related to the moon in the lunar calendar. Because in ancient times, every month was the time when the moon circled the earth once, and these festivals were fixed on the fifth day of May, the fifteenth day of August, the fifteenth day of the first month, the ninth day of September and the first day of the first month every year. So these festivals are all related to the moon. For example, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Spring Festival (the beginning of spring in ancient times) and winter festivals (the solstice in winter) are solar calendar festivals in the traditional calendar of China. In the ancient traditional calendar with "month" as the main date, the date of each year was not fixed, but in the current calendar with Gregorian calendar as the main date, it is basically fixed on April 5, March 2 1 day, 1 month 22. These festivals are all related to the operation of the sun and belong to the solar calendar in the traditional calendar. In addition, New Year's Day (the first day of the first month, which belongs to the lunar calendar) and Spring Festival (the establishment of the Spring Festival, which belongs to the solar calendar) in traditional festivals have changed their dates because of the country's choice of calendars. The ancient New Year's Day has now become the first day of January in the solar year, while the ancient Spring Festival has become the first day of the first lunar month.
