Roof truss of traditional houses in Nanjing
It seems that the old man in this place can't see any amorous feelings during the day, that is, the configuration between alleys, old streets and alleys. But at night, as soon as the lantern was turned on, pairs of handsome men and beautiful women began to flock to the old doorway. The food and snacks here are by no means the nominal food you taste in other scenic spots. The food here is a perfect match for the top night market, such as authentic steamed buns, crystal buns, fennel beans, daughter red wine, night coffee and so on. There are famous snacks, such as Jianghe baozi, Nanjing cuisine, such as blue old sugar lotus root porridge, duck and green bean rot. There are also famous snacks in Taiwan Province Province, such as oyster omelet, and Confucius Temple. I feel that the exquisiteness of Nanjing people in Jiangsu Province is not groundless. Their ordinary food is by no means a word of mouth.
Laomendong is located in the east of Zhonghua Gate in Qinhuai District, Nanjing. Because it is located in the south gate of Nanjing, it is called "East Gate", opposite to the west of Laomen. This place is also an important part of the Qinhuai scenic belt of Nanjing Confucius Temple. East Gate is the gathering place of traditional houses in Nanjing. Since ancient times, it has been a place where merchants and humanities in the south of the Yangtze River gather together and aristocratic families live together. I still have some ambiguity about the name of Laomendong. My local friends explained to me: We Nanjing people say that the concept of Mendong is a general concept, and the area east of Zhonghua Gate is called Mendong, but now the historical and cultural block of Laomendong is a narrow concept of Mendong.
Laomendong is a place with history. Although it was rebuilt later, it eventually became the current Laomendong scenic spot, and it was also the joint efforts of the district government to create tourist attractions along the Qinhuai River, which promoted the tourism development of every place in Nanjing.
According to historical records, as early as the Three Kingdoms period, residential settlements appeared here. In the Ming Dynasty, Zhonghua Gate and Neiqinhuai River became the economic center of the city, and became important distribution centers of commerce, trade and handicrafts, showing a prosperous scene. After the end of the Qing Dynasty, Laomendong and Laomenxi in the south of the old city gradually became areas with mainly residential functions, and concentrated traditional houses in the south of Nanjing.
The Laomendong you see now is the new Laomendong after reconstruction. The name is "Laomendong Historical and Cultural Street". Although it is a modern old doorway, it still inherits the history of the old doorway and respects the existing and original features.
The whole Laomen East is divided into Changle Road in the north, Ming City Wall in the south and Jiangning Road in the east, with a total area of about 700,000 square meters. Historically, it has been one of the core functional areas of Confucius Temple. Folk crafts such as Jinling Carving, Nanjing White Bureau, Deyun Society, Handmade Kites, Cloth Painting, Bamboo Carving, Paper-cutting, Muppets, etc. were set up, and various traditional delicacies and snacks in Nanjing were introduced. What impressed me the most was a solo hotel, similar to an open hotel that ate fennel beans in Kong Yiji. You can taste authentic Nanjing snacks: bamboo shoots, yellow wine and peanuts.
Someone may ask me why this place is so good that it has become a carnival resort for local people in Nanjing. Chop Yun Jian to solve this problem for you?
First of all, Laomendong is a newly developed scenic spot, and the local government is also making great efforts to create perfect tourism products. Therefore, the architecture, food and small shops here are quite particular. It is a free tourist attraction with no secondary consumption. Many foreign travel agencies are generally reluctant to bring guests here because there is no commission for each other. If it's not a simple tour, it's hard for you to walk into Laomendong Historical and Cultural Street.
I just passed Laomendong in a hurry because of the tight time, but I was impressed that none of the foreign guests were fake. This is a relatively mature old tourist street, and the tourism-related products gathered here are very particular, including the design, paving and launching of the entire Laomendong historical and cultural street, which are all perfect through the careful efforts of the team.
You walk through the old gate in the dark, but there is no noise, only whispers between lovers and friends. It's my first time to feel the cultural atmosphere here, and there is no noise, which may be related to the heritage of Nanjing. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you don't miss Laomendong Historical and Cultural Street when traveling in Nanjing today.
Highlight: Free and gentle night street view. The sweetness of lovers is the grouting of the night here. The best place for family reunion and couples to travel.
