Culture of Torii
Of all the shrines in Japan, the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto is famous for its torii and ranks first. At this shrine, a torii is dedicated to a person who makes a wish, and many torii are arranged in front of the gate to form a long pathway called "Senbon torii". In addition, Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima Prefecture has a large torii in the sea, which is one of the well-known torii that are often used to symbolize traditional Japanese beliefs and culture.
