Ranking of first-tier cities in terms of prosperity: Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, the four old first-tier cities, sit at the top of the list, with Shenzhen coming out on top, followed by Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Third-tier city prosperity ranking: Zhuhai, Quanzhou, Huizhou, Wenzhou, Yantai, Jiaxing, Nantong, Zhongshan, Langfang, Changzhou, Baoding, Hohhot, Haikou, Lanzhou, Huzhou, Taizhou, Kaifeng, Sanya, Luoyang, Shaoxing, Xining, Zhuzhou, Yinchuan and Xiangtan.
