The definition of photos taken by modern film cameras is equivalent to that of digital cameras with several pixels.

There is no concept of pixel in the film, because each silver salt particle on the film can accommodate n colors, and one pixel can only accommodate one color, so the color surplus of the film is stepless. If the resolution of film is converted into pixels, it is actually mainly limited by scanning equipment.

135 film adopts Nikon 5KED bottom scanning, which is equivalent to about16 million pixels when scanned at 4000DPI, and about 20 million pixels when scanned electronically. This is the data of 135 reversal film. If it is negative, the resolution is about half to two-thirds of that of reverse film.

If it is 120 film, the reverse film should be divided into 780 million pixels. If it is a professional equipment, it can reach 1 100 million.

But in fact, the enlarged view of film is often not as clear as that of digital photos, and the main problem lies in the stepless color. It is natural to have excessive stepless colors, but the enlarged view lacks obvious contrast of colors, but it appears blurred. This also restricts the enlargement of the film. The limit magnification of 135 film is 24 inches, and it will not work if it is bigger.
