Like many other sports, table tennis started as a gentle social entertainment. Like lawn tennis and badminton, it developed from the ancient medieval tennis. /kloc-In the second half of the 9th century, it became popular in Britain under its current name and various trade names such as Gossima and weff-Whaff. The name of table tennis is J. Jaques & amp's son, and this game has become a fashionable craze.
This game was very popular in Central Europe in 1905- 10. Even before that, a modified version of this game had spread to Japan, and later to China and South Korea. After falling out of favor in Europe for a period of time, the sport revived in England and Wales in the early 1920s. At that time, "Ping-Pong" had been registered as a trademark, so the early name of table tennis was reintroduced. National associations have been established in Europe and the Far East, and the rules have been standardized. Then, in the next 60 years, table tennis developed into a major world sport, with about 30 million athletes and countless millions of people who didn't play seriously. However, the game itself has not changed substantially since its birth, although it is faster, more subtle and more demanding than just twenty years ago.
ping-pong diplomacy
One of the first public signs of the improvement of US-China relations appeared on April 6th, when the American table tennis team participating in the 3rd/KLOC-0 World Table Tennis Championships in Japan was unexpectedly invited by their colleagues from China, who would visit People's Republic of China (PRC) for free. Time magazine called it "the ping-pong sound that can be heard all over the world". On April 10, nine players, four officials and two spouses crossed a bridge from Hongkong to Chinese mainland, opening an era of "ping-pong diplomacy". They were the first Americans allowed to enter China since communist party took over China in 1949.
In all kinds of table tennis competitions, the most famous is the World Championship, which was held once a year at first, and now, from 1957, it is held twice a year.
1904, a shopkeeper named Wang Daowu brought back 10 sets of table tennis equipment, from which table tennis was introduced to China.
Swimming history
The British are considered to be the first modern society to develop swimming into a sport. By 1837, regular swimming competitions organized by the British National Swimming Association were held in six artificial swimming pools in London. As the sport became more and more popular, more swimming pools were built. When a new management organization, the British Amateur Swimming Association, was established in 1880, its member clubs exceeded 300.
1896, swimming became an Olympic sport for men, and100m and1500m freestyle competitions were held in open waters. Soon, as swimming became more and more popular, more freestyle events were added, followed by backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and finally individual medley.
There were only four swimming events in the first modern Olympic Games, three of which were freestyle. 1900 The second Olympic Games held in Paris included three unusual swimming events. A runway with obstacles; The other is to test the endurance of underwater swimming; The third event is the 4000-meter race, which is the longest swimming race ever. These three things never appeared in the Olympic Games again.
For various reasons, in the first few Olympic Games, women were excluded from swimming. In 1896 and 1906, women could not take part in the Olympic Games, because Baron Pierre De Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, insisted that in Victorian times, women were too weak to take part in competitive sports. It was not until the 19 12 Olympic Games that women's swimming made its debut under the impetus of the organization later called the International Olympic Committee.
The Olympic Games has developed from the initial four swimming events to 32 swimming events, with men 16 and women 16. Special Olympics, competitive swimming for the disabled, there are 22 men's events and 22 women's events.
