Many villages in Qiandongnan hold bullfighting competitions (commonly known locally as "bullfighting") on selected dates or at important festivals every year. Bullfighting cattle, are special carefully bred, not engaged in plowing, pulling carts, pushing mill and other labor, are male buffalo, divided into wide-horned, narrow-horned two levels. The Dong people have also created a dance called ancient bullfighting based on the bullfighting competitions.
