What provinces are there in the south?
People's Republic of China (PRC) is divided into 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities directly under the Central Government and 2 special administrative regions, accounting for 34 first-class administrative regions.
I. North (1 1 province and two municipalities directly under the Central Government):
1. Northeast China (3): Liaoning Province, Jilin Province and Heilongjiang Province.
2. North China (3): Hebei Province, Shanxi Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (two municipalities: Beijing and Tianjin)
3. Northwest China (5): Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province, Qinghai Province, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Two. South (17 provinces, two municipalities directly under the central government and two special administrative regions):
1. East China (7): Shandong Province, Jiangsu Province, Anhui Province, Zhejiang Province, Jiangxi Province, Fujian Province and Taiwan Province Province (municipality directly under the Central Government: Shanghai).
2. Southwest (4): Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Xizang Autonomous Region (municipality directly under the Central Government: Chongqing).
3. Central South (6): Henan Province, Hubei Province, Hunan Province, Guangdong Province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Hainan Province.
4. Special Administrative Region (South): Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region.
