Ma Zhiming's Acting Experience

Ma Zhiming (马志明), born on July 14, 1945 on the lunar calendar, is of Hui ethnicity. He is a member of the Ma school of comedy and a national-level actor. He is the eldest son of the famous comedian Mr. Ma Sanli, known as "Master Ma". Influenced by his family's love of comedy and opera since childhood, he was admitted to the Tianjin Opera School in 1957, where he learned the martial arts flower face, and entered the Tianjin Opera Troupe in 1962, where he formally performed comedy. During the Cultural Revolution, he was sent down to the southern suburbs of Tianjin with Ma Sanli, and returned to the troupe after the Cultural Revolution. In the 1980s, he was accepted by the master of comedy, Mr. Hou Baolin, and studied with the late comedian Mr. Zhu Kuoquan as his teacher, and in the 1980s and 1990s, he created, arranged and performed a large number of popular classic works in the troupe.

In February 2007, Ma Zhiming published an anthology of his comedy, "The Laughing Master's Miscellany", and in December 2007, he organized a series of performances called "Fifty Years of Traveling in the Sea of Arts--Ma Zhiming's 50th Anniversary of Classical and Traditional Comic Strip Months", which featured 6 performances***. Ma Zhiming's traditional comedy has a deep foundation, and he has y learned the true depth of Ma's comedy, forming an artistic style that is neither hot nor cold, neither hasty nor impatient, neither shouting nor screaming, neither meat nor salt. Mr. Ma is also one of the few actors in China who both performs and creates comedy. He has performed a large number of comic gems. Mr. Ma is both a literary and martial artist, with the style of a literary comedian, but also integrates martial arts skills into his comic performances, enriching the connotation of comic performances with his exquisite stage mastery. When it comes to the family origin of comedy, no one in today's comedy world can compare with Ma Zhiming, the second generation of comedy artist Enpei is a relative of Ma's ancestors, Ma Zhiming's great-grandfather, Ma Chengfang, is a veteran of the old art of storytelling, his grandfather, Ma Delu, his uncle Ma Guiyuan, and his father, Ma Sanli, the three of these three masters and masters in the history of comedy, the status of which does not need to be mentioned. Ma had three main partners, Yang Shaohua (1932-), Xie Tianshun (1946-) and Huang Jimin (1950-). Among them, Huang and Ma have been partners for the longest period of time, more than 20 years, and the two of them are a perfect match.

Ma has three main disciples: Huang Zumin, Lu Fulai and Yu Kezhi. Among them, Lu Fulai and Yu Kezhi have been working together for more than 30 years, and have become a pair of fire gear of Tianjin teahouse comedy. In 1971 Ma Sanli and Ma Zhiming were sent to the countryside. In the seven years since then, father and son have become soulmates, which is rumored to be Ma Zhiming's "one man's comedy university".
