Record of Growth

First Son of Everyone

When it comes to Jun porcelain and Jin Xiaoxi, we can't leave out his father, the late Jin Peizhang, a famous Jun porcelain artist. People who really know and love Jun porcelain, if they can collect a few pieces of Jin Peizhang's Jun porcelain works, it's a dream come true and a beautiful thing to boast about.

Jin Peizhang started his research on the art of Jun porcelain in 1962, and has visited the sites of ancient kilns and collected a large amount of information on Jun porcelain, including specimens from various eras of the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as specimens from more than one hundred and sixty kiln sites throughout the country, especially those in Yuzhou City, Henan Province, which are all complete and intact. Mr. Jin Peizhang buried himself in these old and ancient materials of Jun porcelain, accompanied by the kiln fire all his life, selfless dedication, regardless of fame and fortune, and filled the blank of the history of China's Jun kiln with his independently authored book "History of Jun Kiln". Mr. Jin Peizhang's love for the art of Jun porcelain is due to his understanding of the art of Jun porcelain, and he advocates the harmonious concept of the development of the large family of Jun porcelain **** with the development of the same, and at the same time, he has joined hands with universities and colleges to inject fresh impetus into the development of the culture and art of Jun porcelain in the areas of type, glaze, material, and craftsmanship, to physically carry out the idea of "Science and Technology for the Development of Jun".

Under the influence of old Mr. Jin, Jin Xiaoxi has been following his father's guidance for more than 30 years, burying his head in the sand and keeping quiet. He has grown from an apprentice, artisan, technician, artist to a contemporary master of the art of Jun porcelain. His father's principle of being indifferent to utilitarianism and disciplining himself has had a subtle influence on his journey. In the face of the joys of success, the pains of failure and more hardships, he was able to resign himself to loneliness and concentrate on the exploration and research of the art of Jun porcelain.

The Founder's Family

When Jin Xiaoxi was a child, Mr. Jin Peizhang, in line with the simple idea that "it is better to have a thousand hectares of good land at home than to have a thin skill in one's body," insisted on letting Jin Xiaoxi, who was only 14 years old at the time, to learn the firing technique of the small carbon furnace of Junzhou porcelain from himself. At that time, Jin Xiaoxi went to school during the day, and after school, he helped his father to fire the small furnace kiln, and did the furnace Jun billet glaze test.

In 1980, Jin Xiaoxi entered the Yuxian Jun porcelain art factory and studied under Mr. Wen Fuzhang, learning the art of firing kiln-variable Jun porcelain. With the recruitment of the second factory of Jun porcelain, he entered the factory as an apprentice. The following year, the Henan Arts and Crafts Society held a training course on ceramic design in Henan Province in Shen_, and Jin Xiaoxi was honored to be selected. At the end of the training course, Jin Xiaoxi created the figureheads of 108 generals in Liangshanbo, which was y appreciated by Mr. Xu Guoframe, and after Mr. Xu's strong recommendation, he entered the design office of the then Junzhou Porcelain Factory No.2 to engage in the design of Junzhou porcelain products. In Jin Xiaoxi's opinion, without this precious learning opportunity, he would not have been able to engage in the art of creating Jun porcelain. The company's main goal is to provide the best quality products and services in the world," he said.

Hard Work

Jin Xiaoxi worked as a designer in the design office of the second factory of Jun porcelain in the last year, and was influenced by the emerging trend of modern ceramics, and with a strong creative impulse, he created more than forty pieces of new Jun art works in one year by utilizing the way of mud pieces inlaid. With the closure of the first and second Jun porcelain factories at that time, Jin Xiaoxi's family members were laid off and lost their jobs, and the whole family lost their income. Under such difficult living conditions, Jin Xiaoxi spent an extremely hard time with his father and his family***. At this time, Mr. Jin studied at his father's side, while helping him with some auxiliary research work. Under Mr. Jin's training, Jin Xiaoxi started from ceramic materials, cutting and engraving, billeting, sculpting, and gradually delved into the craft research of Jun porcelain billet and glaze formulas. Thirteen years of honing his skills has made him gradually become a full-fledged expert in the Jun porcelain industry.

The care of his predecessors

Jin Xiaoxi has received the love and care of many experts and leaders during his growth. Yang Zhihai, president of the China Light Industry Council, wrote the preface for his ceramic monograph when he appreciated Jin Xiaoxi's works of Jun porcelain. Yang Zipeng, president of the China Arts and Crafts Association, cared for Jin's Jun porcelain and promoted it to the participants of the Hong Kong International Ceramic Art Competition, and inscribed the name of the factory in his own handwriting.

The director of the National Museum of China, Mr. Lu Zhangshen, taught Jin Xiaoxi and pointed out the direction for his creation.

Yan Zhentang, president of the China Collectors Association, has helped guide Jin Xiaoxi's creation of Jun porcelain many times, and has written an inscription for him: "Jin's Jun porcelain is the treasure of the country.

Fu Weijie and Wang Aichun, the two vice-presidents of the China Ceramic Industry Association, were even more kind and caring to the development of Jin's Jun porcelain, and often came to guide Jin Xiaoxi's creations in person. Mr. Zhang Shouzhi, Mr. Yuan Ningfu, Master Li Ziyuan from Shandong, Master Liu Lizhong from Hebei, Master Chen Wenzheng, and Master Xu Chaoxing from Longquan all gave unselfish help to Mr. Jin Xiaoxi's creation.

In 1990, Jin Xiaoxi designed the "Big Sunflower Furnace," a magnificent work that was exhibited in Beijing during the Asian Games and was published in a variety of books and magazines. 1996 and 1998, more than 30 pieces of Jin Xiaoxi's work were selected to participate in the Hong Kong International Exhibition of Jun Porcelain Treasures and the Osaka International Exhibition of Jun Porcelain Treasures, respectively. After that, Jin Xiaoxi's "Straight Mouth Inscription Wash" went to New York to participate in the "East-West Artists Exchange Exhibition". 2001-2003, at the request of Yang Tonghuan, director of the Institute of Arts and Crafts in Beijing, she reproduced 72 kinds of ceramic artifacts for the Shandong Museum, involving ancient pottery, primitive porcelain, three-color, Han green, and Qin, Han, Tang, and Song porcelains, etc. 2003, she founded the Jin Family Jun Kiln in April, 2003, which is one of the most important ceramics in China. In April, he founded the Jin family kiln studio. In the same year, he was elected as the director of China Ceramic Industry Association. In 2008, Jin Xiaoxi's hand-drawn and molded "Marionette Vase" won the Gold Medal of the Hong Kong International Ceramics Competition and was collected by the National Treasure Museum of the United Kingdom. In the same year, she was elected vice president of the Hong Kong International Ceramic Art Research Institute and vice chairman of the Hong Kong International Ceramic Artists Association, and in 2009, the National Museum of China collected Jin Xiaoxi's Chai-fired Jun porcelain work "Milk Nail Jar" again. Jin Xiaoxi's works of Jun porcelain, such as "Pipa Vase with Phoenix Ears", "Tianqiu Vase", "Taiping Zun", "Sunflower Zun", etc., are regarded as contemporary works of art. "These works are regarded as classics among the representative works of contemporary Jun porcelain, and are collected by many museums and galleries in China. Mr. Jin Xiaoxi has become a recognized rising star in the Jun porcelain industry, a pillar of the middle-aged echelon, and a fire-bearer of Jun porcelain culture and art.

Mr. Jin Xiaoxi has devoted himself to the cultural accumulation and research of contemporary and ancient ceramic art in addition to the creation of Jun porcelain art. So far, he has completed a number of academic monographs on Jun and ceramics, such as "Talking about Jun Kiln", "Exploring the Origin of Jun Kiln", and "The Art of Ceramics in China", etc. He is also the author of a book on the art of Jun ceramics.

Achievements

Researching Jun Glaze

The reason why Mr. Jin Xiaoxi has become a famous artist in the art of Jun ceramics has a lot to do with his continuous efforts to open up the development of Jun glaze. Mr. Jin's works are known for their colorful glazes and elegant features, which are a perfect combination of kiln-variable glazes and ceramic shapes. Walking into the Jin family kiln showroom, we can clearly see that his works are very different from those of other kilns in terms of style. The glaze color is colorful and varied, thick and heavy, green as blue grass, red as begonias, purple as aubergine, and its meaning is as profound as the fire tree and silver flowers, as the seabed to explore the moon, as the west wind of the ancient road, and there is a natural kiln change constitutes a wonderful and exquisite pattern, which often makes people think of the past and forget to come back to the future, and its modeling is simple and elegant, and it makes people's thinking transcend the space and time to the distant past and the future to be connected together. Over the past 30 years, he has always grasped the unique kiln-variation artistic characteristics of Jun porcelain, insisted on applying modern technology to the production process of Jun porcelain, and carried out technological innovation to improve the level of Jun porcelain craftsmanship.

Shen_'s Jun porcelain craftsmanship began with the Lu Tian'en brothers, the second-generation artists of the Lu family in Shen_. This is a high-temperature Jun porcelain firing process that is different from the Jingdezhen furnace Jun process, which is very difficult to perform. Back then, Mr. Jin inherited a relatively simple technical formula from the old generation of Jun porcelain artists. It was only after years of trial and error that the proportion of the formula was stabilized. When the technology was passed to Jin Xiaoxi, he was not satisfied with the existing technical achievements, combined with modern production conditions and technical means, grasped the unique artistic characteristics of the kiln change of Jun porcelain, and developed it into a brand new kiln-change furnace Jun glaze process, which added a new branch for the development of the art of Jun porcelain.

The Soul of Fire

The exhibition hall of the Jin family kilns has an ink painting entitled "Chaijun is the most beautiful", which was given to Mr. Jin Xiaoxi by a friend who loves Jun porcelain when he succeeded in his experiments of Chai firing. When Mr. Jin Xiaoxi told us that these traditional Jun porcelain works are mostly his original works mainly made by Chaijun, people in the industry could not help but be amazed. He introduced, "In recent years, the Jin family's kiln has been the main research direction of Chai-fired Jun porcelain, which has the most fascinating kiln-change artistic effect." His father, old Mr. Jin, also once said, "The kiln change, which is the most difficult to predict, is a very crucial process in firing Jun porcelain. The beauty of Jun porcelain lies in the unpredictable kiln changes, and it is the art of kiln change that gives people endless artistic enjoyment, 'one color in the kiln, ten thousand colors out of the oven'. This line of work can be said to be a dream intertwined with clay and flame." Since ancient times, there have been "ten kilns, nine can not" and "life in the molding of death in the firing" said. Although the expected kiln transformation is unknown and ugly, it is like facing the life that will be born, which makes people excited and anxious at the same time. In order to realize this dream, Mr. Jin Xiaoxi locked his eyes on the lost 700 years of Jun porcelain wood-fired technology, always grasping the unique artistic qualities of the art of Jun porcelain kiln change, and Mr. Jin Xiaoxi, who grasps the artistic vein of wood-fired Jun porcelain, pushed the wood-fired Jun porcelain to the pinnacle of the modern art of Jun porcelain over and over again.

Inheritance and Innovation

Jin Xiaoxi, as an influential Jun porcelain artist in the hometown of Jun porcelain, has inherited and absorbed the essence of the traditional culture and art of Jun porcelain, and has continued to innovate and develop his art over the past 30 years of study and exploration.

Talking about the cultural tradition of Jun porcelain and the future direction of development, Mr. Jin Xiaoxi said: The traditional culture of Jun porcelain is the root and foundation of the culture of Jun porcelain, and the development of Jun porcelain must cherish and respect this foundation. The development of Jun porcelain must cherish and respect this root. Continuously improving the quality of products, beautifying people's lives and enriching the cultural connotation of Jun porcelain can make this thousand-year old art, Jun porcelain, show a new luster. Mr. Jin Xiaoxi has long insisted on adopting the handmade billet process to produce his own works, adopting the Jun porcelain wood-fired process to burn his own works, adopting new artistic concepts to create his own works, and taking the appreciation of the art of kiln-change of Jun porcelain as the focus of his interaction with the enthusiasts of Jun china, he has grasped the fundamental principle that "the art of kiln-change is the soul of the art of Jun china", and has given the art of kiln-change to the enthusiasts of Jun china. From the basis of creative concept and craftsmanship, firmly grasping the fundamental principle of "kiln-change art is the soul of Jun porcelain art", injecting new vitality into Jun porcelain, which is even more valuable. The miraculous art of kiln change of Jun porcelain has achieved an important position in contemporary ceramic art, and the accumulation of decades of research and study by the second generation of artists of the Jin family will make this art treasure with a history of 1,000 years shine forever.

As the inheritor of the Jin family's kiln skills, Jin Xiaoxi followed her father to learn the art of firing in a small furnace at the age of 14. In 1980, she went to the Yuxian Jun porcelain art factory and then engaged in the firing of Jun porcelain under the tutelage of Mr. Wen Fuzhang, and in 1984, she participated in the training course for ceramic modeling design of Henan Province organized by the Henan Provincial Association of Arts and Crafts. In 1984, he attended the training course on ceramic modeling design in Henan Province organized by the Henan Provincial Arts and Crafts Association. After that, he was recommended by his mentor, Mr. Xu Guofang, to work as a designer in the laboratory of the Second Factory of Jun Porcelain in Yuxian County, and then engaged in the sculpture and design of Jun porcelain modeling under the masters such as Xing Guozheng, Wen Dagi, and Wen Guoli, etc. In the winter of 1989, he started the Liu Shan Kiln Art Research Laboratory with his father, Jin Peizhang, and became a modeling designer as well as a production processor and technician. From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Jin's works were exhibited in museums in Hong Kong, Osaka and New York, and since 2001, Mr. Jin has been operating the Jin family kilns independently as the general manager, embarking on the path of research and development of Jun porcelain creation and technology research. After many years of study and exploration, from the beginning to the development of maturity, although difficulties, setbacks and even tribulations, but he relied on the never give up the spirit of perseverance to come over. It is that kind of unrelenting persistence that has allowed Jin Xiaoxi to lay a solid practical and theoretical foundation, and grow into an artist with excellent skills and comprehensive development of Jun porcelain.

As a native of Jun porcelain, Mr. Jin Xiaoxi has taken on the responsibility for the development of contemporary Jun porcelain by combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to bring a new luster to the ancient culture of Jun porcelain. Mr. Jin's works are a perfect combination of kiln-variable glazes and ceramic shapes, known for their colorful glazes and elegant features. Under the special effect of high temperature and reducing atmosphere in the kiln of Jun porcelain, the thick glaze layer with a certain degree of mobility melts and flows on the surface of ceramic objects, and the kiln turns into a variety of patterns. This pattern and the Jun glaze glaze in the reducing atmosphere to generate a variety of wonderful colors, the formation of a picture of a changing, natural and miraculous picture, like a ghostly work of art, it is amazing, breathtaking.
