Folk customs in Hezhang County

The horse racing, bell dancing, toast dancing, buckwheat harvest dancing, azalea picking dancing and Qin Yue dancing of Hezhang Yi people are colorful, and the Lusheng dancing of Miao people is even more spectacular. National costumes are exquisite and dazzling.

Zhongsheng dance

The chime dance of Hezhang Yi people, commonly known as foot dance, is called "Ken He Bei" in Yi language, which means the farewell dance of spirit and flesh. This is a traditional folk dance performed by the Yi people at the sacrificial site. Hezhang's "Yiling Dance" has the remarkable characteristics of singing and dancing. The dancers sing first and then dance, and the song and dance alternate. Through sacrificial activities, we will sincerely dance and sing songs of sacrificial ceremonies, so as to fulfill the filial piety of our descendants, pay homage to the dead and comfort the living. The content is the traditional production and life scene of Yi people. After artistic treatment, the content is healthy and the style is simple. Because the Yi people have the custom of singing and dancing at weddings and funerals, and the people who chime and dance have a wide range, they have been passed down from generation to generation and preserved a good original state.

Toast dance

Tusi dance is called "blind tooth" in Yi language. After the death of an old man with more than five daughters-in-law or nephews, the man and his daughter-in-law (nephews) danced in the house with a toast as the content to show respect for the deceased and wish and comfort to the guests and relatives. Dancers are well dressed and dignified.

Lusheng dance

Lusheng dance, also known as "stepping on Lusheng" and "stepping on karaoke bars", is named after dancing with Lusheng and bragging. Miao, Dong, Buyi, Shui, Gelao, Zhuang, Yao and other ethnic communities spread in Guizhou, Guangxi, Hunan and Yunnan. It is the most popular and widely distributed folk dance of southern minorities. Judging from the unearthed bronze figures of Lusheng dance in the Western Han Dynasty, Lusheng dance has a history of at least 2,000 years. Lusheng dance is mostly performed in festive occasions such as festivals, gatherings and celebrations, mainly for self-entertainment, competition and etiquette.

Lusheng dance is the most representative and favorite folk dance of Miao nationality. Lusheng dance can be basically divided into three categories: mass Lusheng dance, performing Lusheng dance and custom Lusheng dance.

Miao migration dance

The Miao language of the Great Migration Dance is "Ga Ga Di Ga Qi", which means "Find a place to live". This dance is popular in Dahuamiao branch of Hezhang County, Guizhou Province, China, and distributed in Leke, Hezhe, Dezhuo and other counties. It is spontaneously passed down from generation to generation among Miao people.
