Weber's Classification of Organizational Authority

Authoritative leadership system is one of the basic elements of social organizations. Weber believes that authority is the power to gain recognition, and authority is expressed through specific positions in social organizations. For social organizations composed of people from different sources who pursue personal interests, the necessity of authority is self-evident. Authoritative leadership system refers to the power and leadership system established by the position level, which establishes the rights and obligations between members at different levels, thus ensuring the internal order of the organization and the possibility of joint action. Weber believes that as far as the formation of authority is concerned, authority can be divided into legal authority, traditional authority and charming authority. Jurisprudence authority is a rational authority formed through people's legal procedures, while traditional authority is formed due to hereditary reasons. Subordinate and loyalty to superiors are its right characteristics, and charismatic authority is formed because of individual superman. In modern social organizations, legal authority is dominant.
