The ancient understanding of "wu" in China refers to military action in general. The Shuowen Jiezi (Explanation of Characters in Chinese) says that "stopping the spears is for wu", which means that wu should be used to prohibit violence and rule over chaos, stopping the dry spears, and seeking stability and peace. The original meaning of the word "wu" is not to tell people to "use military force" to dominate, to serve the strong, to bully the weak, to kill and injure, to annihilate countries, to take over land, to seize property and to enslave the people. If you do that, it is not "martial arts", but "aggression", aggression is not worthy of being called "martial arts". Aggression is not worthy of the name "wu". The meaning of "wu" is justice, such as the ancient Zhou Wu Wang crusade against the lawlessness of the feudal king, after his death was overflowing for the "king of wu"; Yue Fei against the Jin soldiers, after his death was named "Yue Wu Mu Wang". This crown "Wu" is a beautiful name with the meaning of praise and glorification.

In recent times, people have been practicing boxing and kicking, knife and gun skills called martial arts, the purpose of which is for self-defense and fitness, not to deceive others. China's martial arts community has always had a good tradition of honoring martial arts and virtue. Therefore, the requirement of martial arts practitioners, must fully recognize and fully understand the legitimate use of martial arts and the purpose of martial arts practice, must strictly abide by martial arts ethics.

In short, martial arts ethics, as a kind of moral code, has been a guideline that martial arts practitioners must strictly abide by since ancient times. Our today's Wudu, more should be in the inheritance of traditional Wudu on the basis of the establishment of the characteristics of our new era of Wudu difficult rules, that is, the majority of our martial arts practitioners in the construction of socialist spiritual civilization, seriously do the "five speak", "four beautiful", "Three Favors", so that they can become a person with ideals, morals, culture and discipline.
