What is the traditional natural economic structure?

Traditional natural economic structure is the main economic form under the feudal economic form of traditional society.

The traditional natural economy in China refers to the economy that takes the family as the production unit, uses metal tools for production and takes land as the means of production.

Natural economy is the opposite of commodity economy and a manifestation of private ownership economy. It is an economic form existing in the period of small market, and it is the product of low level of social productivity and underdeveloped social division of labor. The ruling period of this economic form covers primitive society, feudal society, early capitalist society and semi-colonial and semi-feudal society.

It has the following characteristics:

(1) The natural economy is self-sufficient and there is little commodity exchange.

② The natural economy is closed, the production technology is backward and the production scale is small.

(3) Conservatism of natural economy, conformism, ignoring technological innovation and creation.

④ Natural economy is simple reproduction.

Economic phenomenon:

Small-scale peasant economy is a kind of natural economy, and it can also be said to be a yeoman economy. (From the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period to the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the yeoman economy was equal to the small-scale peasant economy. After the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the small-scale peasant economy was mainly tenant farmers, so the yeoman economy was no longer equal to the small-scale peasant economy. Its characteristics are: decentralized (family as a unit), closed (combining agriculture with cottage industry) and self-sufficient (the main purpose of production is to meet one's own living needs and pay taxes).

Small-scale peasant economy is not completely equivalent to the natural economy that emphasizes the family as the production and living unit, and the natural economy is mainly opposite to the commodity economy. Small-scale peasant economy came into being under the background of Niu Geng's iron plough during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, while natural economy appeared as early as the primitive society.
